Here is the NA version: http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/rule/uacs01.html
It's actually shorter and easier to deal with. No confirmation papers or anything, just prove you are you and the account will be reset.
Yes, SE is very slow to develop a good policy, but this new policy is good, really good.
And now for the naively optimistic million gil question:
Will those who have previously had their accounts jacked, restored, and then told that all they can get back are a few incomplete stacks of crystals and shihei benefit from this new policy?
The date/time thing is old.![]()
I'm curious to see how this will actually pan out, but at least a small kudos to SE for finally at least attempting to do something.
So if you got RMTrashed more than 3 months ago you're still screwed? If you discover that the game data has sustained any problems due to unauthorized access, please contact the PlayOnline Information Center within 7 days of your account's recovery. Game data may be recovered for customers who fulfill the following two requirements.
You have not had your game data recovered since April 23, 2008.
*Game data recovery is different from item recovery where you request the return of lost items.
It is still within 3 months of your account being accessed by an unauthorized third party.
Looks that way.Originally Posted by Fodder

Just called and tried. I was compromised 5 days ago. Since they reset my PW and I have access to my account, apparently, I don't fall under their new policy. He "said" he talked to his supervisor also, and even though on the website they give a scenario where "I can log in but my game data has been altered" somehow, this doesn't apply to me.![]()
Ok called again and got a nicer lady, apparently my account wasn't "compromised". I asked her exactly what being compromised consisted of, and it entails having the account info changed: name, address, birthday, CC#. If those were changed, you were compromised and Game Data Recovery applies to you.
So basically, the end result is more "New policy, same old bullshit"? I wish I could say I'm surprised![]()
Looks like SE has been reading BG forums and would like to argue semantics with us!Originally Posted by fishstix

So this basically means 99% of those people that got jacked are still helpless. It's emazing how many ways SE can say "We will help you revover your data, but we won't."Originally Posted by fishstix
3 months I can understand. Too bad most all cases are well beyond that mark by now.
Yup. This just confirms the fact that SE are shitheads who should be, but unfortunately are not, too stupid to breathe. Cue image macro of SE:
SE: "Would you like your account back?"
Hacked customer: "Yes, please"
*CRUSH*
Hacked customer: >.>
Hacked customer: <.<
Hacked customer: V.V

Do you fall into the gave out account password to 'friend' and came back missing currency group? We need a background story on your case!Originally Posted by fishstix
It was a virus/trojan/keylogger. I use firefox with noscript and adaware, but somehow still got infected. No one has access to my computers but me, so it couldn't have been a "friend" infecting me. I know for a fact it wasn't a friend who hacked me because no one knew all 3 acct info that were taken. I had also scanned my computer afterwards with an antivirus program (i know i should've had one installed beforehand) and it came up with a file named FFloader.exe, Newloader.exe and the trojan name was PSW.OnlineGames.ALLT which is a keylogger. One of the accts, after getting the PW reset, was mailing newbie gear to Antonela, which was discovered to being PL'd through the dunes with crappy gear, RMT style. Antonela is now in Mount Zhaylom 24/7 with mining gear. Mules starting with ASU (asura server) were found selling stuff that belonged to me and my friend's acct that were hacked. Somehow, they missed several mont. silver pieces and left the single pieces behind (I had converted all my singles to 100s where I could). They had also converted my saved up KSs into different KS30 orbs and also a few BS orbs. I retained all of my r/x gear, IS/AN/CQ/assault points.
I think that's all the background info I can think of... satisfied?
Also, I posted more info http://www.bluegartr.com/forum/viewt...26144#p1026144
In a case like this, keylogger stealing a password, is it possible to protect
myself from a keylogger by copy and pasting my password?
There have been multiple routes of infection. It was a virus/trojan/keylogger. I use firefox with noscript and adaware, but somehow still got infected.
There was a realplayer exploit as well, and a quicktime one. The Realplayer one was confirmed as hitting people playing FFXI. The quicktime one, to my knowledge, has only been hitting 2nd life.
Some people are installing noscrip and not going into the options and picking the BLOCK IFRAME option . Please please go in there and check it, by default it's unchecked.
There was one variant keylogger that also exploited an old version of Windows Media Player as well. If you updated to the newest version of WMP, you shouldnt have any issues with that variant.
