I have a set of Logitech Z-5500 speakers and a Soundblaster X-Fi Fatal1ty Professional Xtreme Gamer soundcard, while maybe irrelevant, I posted it anyways. My sound receiver for Z-5500 has 5 settings, Stereo, Stereo X2, DD PLII Music, DD PLII Movie and 6Ch Direct, obviously I have to use 6ch Direct for true 5.1 sound, and this isn't a problem if I use VLC Media Player (I can select audio device 5.1 and it plays through centre/all satellites), but I can only watch 720p movies in VLC (1080p skips), so in MPC I set 6Ch Direct and load up a movie with 5.1 audio, but it only plays through the front two satellites.
I can set it to DD PLII Movie and force it to play through all the speakers but I'm pretty sure its just emulated sound since it isn't the same as if I watch the movie in VLC with 5.1 device selected, I've tried installing CCCP and messing around with filters inside MPC settings, but to no avail, I tried googling it but I couldn't find anything helpful under a plethora of search terms and attempts. This isn't a big deal with 720p movies since I can just watch them in VLC for real 5.1, but certain movies I want to watch are only available in 1080p and forcing them to play with DD PLII Movie to get surround sucks. So I'm hoping someone can explain what I'm overlooking or if it's even possible in MPC.
Using CoreAVC to decode the movies, if it makes a difference. Thanks in advance for any help someone can offer.![]()
