75 in weeks is easy as hell now.

And Crysius, you forgot to add something.

Deco camps for 5-6k/hr when leveling was 80k TNL not 40k.

    2) The brain cells needed to beat a mob going down with level. Mirroring this, the exp rewards from "dumb" mobs being the highest in the game. Any mob that literally gets chained into the 100's should not be the best exp in the game (thanks to Sanction). Tougher mobs should be given exp bonuses. Easily defeated mobs (at a given level) should be given lower exp modifiers. Greater colibri? Try .8, where beastmen would "average" and wivre a higher one. Beastmen in general > "dumb" monsters like crabs and beetles that are minimal threats at higher levels.
Thank god someone else fucking sees it. Why is the effort for killing a low tier crab equal to killing something completely intelligent and dangerous like an orc? SE started with the EXP bonuses for certain monsters but why was it never fleshed out? (Ladons, Gnats, Manticores, Hippogryphs are some.) The game is going towards a more 'casual' do things at your own pace so why not make the monotony of EXP more of a choice, multiple places to go exp with varying ways of going about it (slow with high exp/kill or tpburn lower exp/kill but more kills overall), in a way that you'd never have to visit the same exp camps but still not sell yourself short. So many camps across all level ranges would open up allowing players to have variety on top of campaign/solo/duo content if they wanted.

You wouldnt seem like a complete fool for exping on beastmen or gnats - thats for sure.

    3) Reward working together, punish it's failure. Skillchains should improve chain time and reduce physical defenses. Magic bursts chain bonuses and lowered magical defenses, and "weaker" elements get higher bonuses to damage on MB (Earth > Water > Wind ...to where Thunder gets it's roughly it's current bonuses.). Spamming WSes (or nukes) should push mobs into higher levels of defense instead.

Improving SC damage was a step forward. Whine and bitch all you like about it, but when people work together, the average IQ of the party goes up. Make it required and rewarding, and you're purging the stupid. And nobody likes fucking stupid players. Heaven help us if people have to wait a bit to unleash Weaponskill Awesome #762 because it's actually worth skillchaining Gravitation and MBing Stone III.
This is made of all sorts of truth.

Oh, you are so wise to figure out what no one has figured out! This game sucks, and we are suckers because we keep playing it.

    OR...

You are so self-absorbed to believe that your opinion is the only one that people could possibly have, or at least that anyone who doesn't agree with you is wrong.

You know it is possible to complain about certain aspects of something and still enjoy it, right? It's really not that hard. Wanting more out of an update does not some how make the game over all worse. If a person is playing the game the day before an update, even if the update sucks, there is no reason for them not to be playing it the next day.

Your expectations are very strange indeed. It appears that you based your enjoyment off of potential future improvements instead of playing a game you actually enjoyed. We all want 10/10 updates, but it's not going to happen every time, your own lack of enjoyment can be found in your (probably unrealistic) expectations. People that like the game because of the game are not ignorant or blind or any of the other crappy baseless insults that people who think they are brilliant for quitting always toss around. They just enjoy the game, updates are a nice dessert but the game play is the meat and potatoes.

    Oh, and one last thing...

    You will be back.

This doesn't apply to me because even though I quit, I like to post here since I posted here for so long and I usually just lurk general/spam anyway. My posts in real FFXI sections usually is answering noobie questions and not whining like these guys, although few and far between, but hey we all can't be a psuedo-Aurykenshen Wafik. These forums are funner then the game itself!

The point you are missing is that making soloing viable to every job usurps the party system on which the game is based. This is besides the fact that you can now use Campaign, Campaign Ops, Signet/Sigil/Sanction bonus and a myriad of other ways to solo to 75.

    But you don't want that.

You want soloing to be EASIER than partying. And that fundamentally undercuts the basis, gameplay and functionality of the game.

Figuratively, you are going to a baseball game and wondering why they aren't playing football. FFXI was never designed to be all things to all people. Either you play it, or you don't.

Do this, and you've caused the demise of the party system. As it stands, Campaign put a dent in higher-level play because some jobs burn out so badly meriting (say, RDM?) poking some beastmen for fun >>> maximum exp from a TPburn. Ragnarok is -1 RDM 75 for merits because the idea of another greater colibri PT makes me physically ill at this point. I'll be working on my collection of Yagudo NM kill shots instead.

What needs fixing isn't making every job super-solo-friendly (we have a solid and VERY viable option now in the form of Campaign, 50+), but in fixing the party system.

Powerleveling as it stands needs to die for the good of the game, exp vs. challenge level of mobs needs a reworking across the board, and the combat system needs to become relevant again for actual regular gameplay.

No I won't and I bet your going to be the same idiot you always are defending this companies subpar patch when I read the june thread notes when most are disappointed. Have you not learned this routine by now? You cannot deny the fact that more people who post on this forum are unhappy patch after patch but are too addictied to quit and continue to accept crappy updates.

The truth hurts to some people, some people choose to deny the fact that it has been a very long time since SE has put any worthwhile effort into this game. If you think they have I highly suggest you to go read the threads about everything thats happened since WoTG released because it will be mostly negative from long time posters of this forum.

You can't just do a minor tweak to make soloing viable XP for every job. It would take a massive overhaul for reasons already stated. If it was that easy and it could be done without effecting the fundmental party-XP mechanic, I wouldn't be against it. But it's not, and it would.

sarcasm is a foreign language to you I see.

But it was a 124,000 XP difference for 1-75 from old to new (15% difference). An extremely heavy difference at 5-8k/hr. ~ 24 hours worth of party time difference.

Making every job soloable isn't what needs to happen. What needs to happen is to offer more XP and different XP camps so it's possible to get the same level of XP with the right setup regardless of your job. We need more options than just bird camps.

I'm someone defending the XP system, but I do agree with the gist of what you just said. Things *have* sucked recently, only I think they've sucked because SE has focused most of their efforts in this expansion on giving people new ways to solo XP, instead of adding real content. More ways to do the same old thing at a slower pace isn't going to give me shit to do.

I want real substantive additions, new things to do, new areas to conquer, new spots to merit, et cetera. The current mediocrity has very little to do with the party-based leveling system.

Also, we're not addicted to the game: we are addicted to our friends. That's why people still play who hate the turn the game has taken.

DEF/VIT correction patch would be by proxy allow more people to solo whenever they want, help EXP parties function more efficiently and correct some issues that utsusemi has been holding together for many years now.

In short it'd be one of those 'oh shit' patches. Everyone would win.

Soloists would be excited, parties would actually regard defenses as something beyond lolturtlePLD and overall every aspect of the game would get another glanceover. Even the utsusemi haters would get something to be excited about.

Except that wouldn't fix soloing. You still couldn't kill fast enough to get good XP in many instances. And even if you could, it would track soloers into XP camps, ruining XPing for partying unless they were to adjust spawn rates or add in more camps at chokepoint levels. Etc. etc. etc. (this was argued pages ago)

Signet started it with small-man buffs it gives but overall correction of DEF would cut some downtime on full parties, streamlining exp parties and soloers on the side. It'd be a party buff first, a gift for soloers 2nd.

Even if soloers intrude upon some party grounds, where exactly at what level are you choked into one point to EXP in the game? At any given level you have at least 3-4 camps to choose from, i doubt all of a sudden overnight that every camp option for every level span would be full. Perhaps the obvious camps would see traffic, but thats where the playerbase would discover new camps and new places to party.

Most levels do not have a 'chokepoint' anymore, its one of the few things that SE actually dealt with releasing WotG/ToAU. What level exactly these days has a painful chokepoint?

Agreed WT. I remember that Patch....It made a massive difference in the speed to lvl 60+.
I don't think their are any simple tweaks that would allow for easier solo'ing. the game was based on doing just about everything in a party format. It would be a massive overhaul to change that standard.

I'm waiting for them to plug into Paladin and Warrior:

Strength of the Company: The Paladin's defensive level adjustment rises by 1 when in a party, +1 for each additional member of the party. Paladin 50th, Warrior 65th.

Voila. 75 PLD in full PT vs. L80 mob = L81 defensive vs. L80 mob, and higher level warriors get a useful defensive tool in parties as well. It'd mean a Paladin vs. Mamool Ja would at worst be dealing with hits from a "VT" equivalent, rather than a monster 8 levels higher than they are.

You missed the bold part in my post obviously.

You really aren't as smart or well-adjusted as you think. Nor have you figured our anything that remains a mystery to the rest of us "lemmings."

You also missed the part where I said you can enjoy something and still complain about the problems with it too. Are you really so naive to believe that you can either enjoy something or not enjoy it only?

Personally, I am very pragmatic about things, I enjoy playing the game as it is and updates only make things better, some updates aren't as good as others obviously, but I won't quit the game based upon an update, when I stop playing will be based on a myriad of factors, none of which will be whether an update "delivers."

Is Wings as good as Treasures at this point? Not even close. Am I going to cry about it? Nope. Am I going to quit and tell everyone else that their opinion is wrong because I have figured out something that no one else has figured out? You already have cornered that market.

Come on, guy, the "I quit and am so much cooler than you" thing was so WoW launch. You are like 2 years late to the game.
