ps3 - too short to search

Nah I wouldn't say that. Some lines are less jaggy, and it looks better on a widescreen than it did on a PS2.

But still, the difference is so minor you have to stop playing, take pictures to compare, and then zoom in to even see the difference.

And that's on an original 60GB, mind you.

I noticed a difference. Then again, I kept pausing and turning on/off the upscaling to compare in a few places. PS1 games look a lot cleaner too.

Games that were made prior to HD look like stretched poop on HDTV's. Upscale just makes it look slightly less shitty.

MGS1 looks decent on PS3, I played it last weekend.
Decent for an early PSX game, that is.

If you waited this long to get a PS3, you clearly didn't want one badly enough. You're going to buy MGS4 anyway, and you want backwards compatibility, just wait for June.

As for "how shitty stuff looks" compared to HD, that might not be relevant. Someone still using coax cables wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
