Aimless, I played a few hours and nothing much happened. It didn't suck me in.

It also wasn't fun running around, which is something basic and fun they could have done.

The thing that gives me hope is how much denser it apparently is. If there are interesting things actually going on, that changes things.

    And no gangsta talk.

There are things going on in San Andreas too, you can't judge a PS2 game to a PS3 game, based on just the amount of data that can store the Blu-Ray.
Did you try the triathons in San Andreas? Its a perfect example of stuff that is there.

I can guarantee you that is more of the same.

I'm talking about a few hours in. I also play games without guides (at first), if the game doesn't lead me there then that's going to make me not care.

I just didn't give a fuck after a few hours and, after a few hours, if I don't give a fuck, the game probably isn't worth playing.

Who said anything about using guides lol.

Edit: I'm trying to convince you to NOT buy it btw, one less hater.

The point is, I didn't find interesting things within a few hours. I wasn't compelled to keep playing.

I'm just wondering if the game is more compelling from the get-go... but I guess nobody really knows yet.

Go buy III for the PS2 Maxx, it should cost you no more than 10 bucks and you'll know immediately if you're going to like IV or not. SA is kind of a weird game to jump into the franchise with.

I get your point, as for the game it probably includes little missions with the cell phone, plus the whole turn into multiplayer anywhere (maybe). Its evident your opinion of compelling is different than mine (read: you require something else to get hooked on the game).

But honestly all 3 games start and evolve in the same way, I dont see rockstar reinventing the formula much.

The mafia storylines are much better then the gangster storylines.

Re: Grand Theft Auto IV Release (Not Quite Yet Apparently)

On 25 April 2008, it was reported in the Metro that Jack Thompson had written a letter to the mother of Strauss Zelnick, Director of Take-Two Interactive. In the letter, which strongly criticised the game, Zelnick and his mother, Thompson called Grand Theft Auto a "murder simulator". He went on to say that "The pornography and violence that your son traffics in is the kind of stuff that most mothers would be ashamed to see their son putting into the hands of other mothers' children". Thompson then question's Strauss Zelnick's upbringing and says that his mother should be "ashamed of herself" and that she "spared the rod and spoiled the child. That would explain why he has brought you, by the way he presently acts, to shame." He finishes by saying "Happy Mothers' Day, Mrs Zelnick, which this year is May 11, two weeks after your son unleashes porn and violence upon other mothers' boys. I'm sure you're very proud." Neither Take-Two interactive nor Rockstar Games have made any comment regarding the matter.

This guy is excellent at convincing people. I mean, who wouldn't agree with him after having harrased someone's mother like that?

Re: Grand Theft Auto IV Release (Not Quite Yet Apparently)

so i just got my phone call that my copy will be ready monday night at midnight, but it was an automated menu that said something about going there at 6pm for some special thing. does that mean that i can possible pick it up at 6pm or is that just like some other random promotion thing.

i pre-ordered from gamestop in a mall, so i've been curious about if the entire malls doors will be open at midnight or if they'd have an early release before the mall itself closed.

edit: fuck, i just called the mall where i pre-ordered and they said no dice on a midnight release and there's no way in hell i can pick it up before the mall closes on monday so i'll have to wait til tuesday afternoon when i get out of work. what cumbuckets

What happens is they open their store up at 6 to let people come in and pay off their reservations. They give you your receipt with a little sharpie mark on it and come 12:00, they open the doors again and just hand out copies. It's pretty efficient and cool actually.

X-Play is doing a "first look" episode of GTA IV right now (Noon est)...... so...... guess you will not be able to see this footage anywhere else they claim.
