Like I said, I know someone exactly like Manny in RL who I absolutely despise, so the conclusion of the story left a warm fuzzy feeling in my gut.

They extended the Key to the City contest for another two weeks. Go for it, and get the awesome key memorabilia thing!

Does it server any purpose aside "invisible" brownie points?

    edit: answered my own question:

Man, fuck playing pool. I was down to 2 balls with the NPC at 6 and the fucker potted every single one in a row, including some impossible bank shots.

Also, anyone tried sitting still in a car/bike doing burnouts?

I got bored waiting for the NPC to stop doing the plot exposition thing for the mission so I sat there in a burnout, only to have both tires pop

Pretty fun being chased by the cops riding on 4 rims too.

Where is that shit? I need a good diversion in-game after all the pool.

Pool is pretty fun, but I absolutely suck at bowling. I don't get how it works, I end up just smashing the right stick back and forth as fast as possible.

Same here Xavier... every time i take a friend out now it is to go Bowling. Been trying to get the 3 Strikes/Turkey achievement and i suuuuuuuuuck at strikes. So far the closest i have come is 2 strikes in a game, but not back to back. I am getting a bit better. I move over two "steps" to the left, flick back then kinda up and to the right on the stick, then pull the ball back left as it is going down the lane. If i can hit in between the 1 and 3 pins just right it is a nice strike...

Just need to get it down and get strikes in a row now. Upside though, getting my friends Like Percentage up more than anything else right now =P

EDIT: LOL ok... apparently strikes take NO skill. Essentially just take two full steps left, then either hold down on the right stick 1-2 seconds until he throws it, or just do down - up completely straight. No aftertouch needed... watched a video here of a guy bowling 300. So guess that is another pretty simple achievement.

EDITDOS: What Katlan said below me.

    Bowling:
    #Pick the first lane.
#Take 2 "full" steps to the left.
#Pull back the right stick and count to one (dont rush it take your time) then push up on two and do NOT add aftertouch.
(Better chances at a strike if, after you pull back on the right stick, you push it forwards pretty fast. Just takes some pratice to move the analog back & fourth in a straight line.)

I've never bothered with the GTA series, video game violence doesn't really do anything for me. I'm tempted to jump on the bandwagon for this one though, even if only for it's aesthetic values.

Are the missions and non-genocidal activities in GTA IV interesting and varied enough to make up for my lack of interest in sandbox murder and multiplayer?

The missions are violence. Not sure why you'd look towards GTA if you're not interested in it to be honest. And really, unless you're looking for a reason to throw away $60, the mini-games and like street racing and stuff is so-so in my opinion.

Not to mention in order to unlock most mini-games you have to advance the story.

Re: Grand Theft Auto IV Release (Okay, now it's out)

I don't mind violence in the proper context, like in well-designed missions. I just wouldn't enjoy running around aimlessly shooting and running-over people outside the missions, which is the only way I've seen people play GTA.

So I'm wondering if there's any substance to the missions, or if it's just more of the aimless killing with the addition of cut scenes. I'm guessing they are pretty good obviously, but then again, I don't really like the concept of GTA. Game's so pretty though.

Re: Grand Theft Auto IV Release (Okay, now it's out)

You dont have to aimlessly kill people while not in mission (or during missions), in fact most of the time I drive in the proper lane and stop in the toll booth, and avoid for the most part to damage whatever car I'm driving.

However the missions have you killing people more often than not, you don't have to go on killing spree anyway. The fakeinternet and radio and well, everything have a heavy dose of sexual innuendos; you have to appreciate GTA as a whole, and in the case of GTA4 the police makes it really hard to cause mayhem, since you can take damage inside the cars now.

Re: Grand Theft Auto IV Release (Okay, now it's out)

Main allure of this game vs the others is the physics engine w/just makes the same seem much more fun in the way people react to you, ect... It's too easy not kill people to not do it. People will start fights w/you on the street if you bump into them, and if the cops see this you might be needing to GTFO and jacking the next car you see to get away haha. Another example is the only way to get easy weapons in the early part of the game is to jack a police car since its auto-gives you 5 shotgun shells. Then the next time you klill a cop w/ the shotgun, grab his gun then jump into the police car to get more ammo lol. Its very compelling to free roam and mess around.

The story is good, its gives you enough options to where your not a robot doing stuff for people. A big compell is the story, w/is pretty good. But you can't pick up this game and not kill random ppl since the way it's made you are randomly forced into it. GTA games have never been much for me, I played GTA3 but none of the rest until 4. But I'm having a blast...

If unsure go and rent it, can't complain about losing 5$ on a rental to a game you don't like. But this game doesn't reinvent the GTA series by any means, it makes the series so much better. So if you didn't like the basic formula from past games this one wont be any different.

Re: Grand Theft Auto IV Release (Okay, now it's out)

Its more casual gamer oriented, when you start vigilante missions you don't have to do them one after another non-stop, and you can get off the vehicle to kill the bad guys without being penalized.
