Re: Grand Theft Auto IV Release (Okay, now it's out)

I finished the game 5 miutes too late ; ; to receive the 100% GTA IV social club reward, oh well
(I got 100% exactly @ 11:55pm Monday night, but social club kept me @98% till 12:05am Tuesday)

I live in NYC, Liberty City is a knock-off of it, but Holy Fuck does every fucking block have like 20 patrolman on them
Alot of the times I exit from my safehouse, or any area, theres like 10+ cop cars that just patrol that area

I have seen cop cars magically appear out of thin air to chase you down, from fn lvl 1 wanted stars

I f'n loved GTA III and Vice City, there was so much shit you could do/get away with
    Cheats/Weapons/Creating Anarchy-Chaos/Purchasing Different things..etc.

GTA IV with-in 3 weeks has bored me, Thank God I gamefly'd this, MP is atrocious, from the lobby to match-making
(Most of my PSN friends went back to COD4 or R:FOM for MP goodness)

I ran into a funny glitch.

I chose vengence, so the girl (who'll remain nameless) dies. I beat the game, and like, 6 game days later she calls me (wtf). She said over the phone we haven't hung out, want to do something. I agree, pick her up, take her to a diner, take her home, and get the + for her likeness. Her name remains not in my phone, and she's yet to call me back.
    Creepy.

So is that why I couldn't find a good full multiplayer room at all at 5:00 pm PST on a Friday? Has the community in general just given up on it? Because from the one full game of Mafia errands or whatever that I played it was pretty fun.

No Clue how XBox360/Live are doing MP wise

The PS3/PSN is f'n Barren Wasteland
(If you have a set of friends atleast 5+, you could enjoy it all by yourselves, but most rooms are laggy/2-3 players/0 mics, no communication)

Seriously GTA IV would have been better suited with 2 player offline/online co-op

It really is a bitch, that my brother/cousin(s) just have to watch, would be nice if me and somebody else can go through the missions together

1 complaint I really forgot was the missions, why are there linear paths/scripted events

Final Mission: Kill Pegerrino, while chasing his stooges back to the hideout, why are there always certain cars that spawn, then go into rollover mode 95% of the time, and when you get to Peg, and see that small cutscene of him running away to the roof, I always reach the roof quickly, take out the 2 goons, and jump off the building rather than taking the ladder, I always scope Peg, but nothing, I even shot him with a RPG point blank and I died, but he kept running, or if you get a little ahead of him, the game puts Peg into Fast Foward mode, and he be-lines it to the boat

I realized how hard it was to shoot with that chopper, so I flew low, then Peg's boy RPG'd me and i had to replay. End boss' death should've involved blowing up the statue and it falling on him.

That'd sure make Jack Thompson happy XD.

But anyway, my question was when you have the choice between going after Dimitri for revenge or doing the job for him, do you still end up killing Pegorino at the end? Does Kate still get shot?

I keep reading the best way to get the "one man army" achievement is to steal a helicopter from happiness island, but I've been all over that place and I've not seen any choppers. Can someone please give me a more precise location or perhaps another place where I can steal a helicopter?

If you don't have the 3rd island open yet, but have the 2nd open, you can easily get the achievement by stealing a helicopter from the heli tours place on the 2nd island in the very southeast corner of it near the water.

If you grab some ammo for the M4 or AK you can hide out in the Cluckin Bell @ The Triangle on the second island, only one door for the cops to come through and it's really easy to keep em out. I was in there for a good 4mins before I stole a SWAT van and stole a helicopter from the Helitours.

Man, it's the little things in the game that make it so full of win.

Just sped down Star Junction on a Superbike at full blast, clipped a Taxi and sent Kiki flying head-first into a wall.
Bitch then got up and walked over no prob and hopped back on leaving a blood stain where she hit.

Also rear-ended some dude on a bridge and his car burst into flames, he gets out and flails wildly, puts out the flames, takes two steps, and his car explodes sending him flying.

The Health-Care discussion on PLR is hilarious too, takes a while, but listening to the the guy go on about "Hole-Istics" at the end makes it so worthwhile.

Anyone tried dating Alex from Craplist? Seems she updates her Blog a while after every date you go on. Pretty nice touch.

Oh man, the shows at Peristroika are hilarious. The "magician" and his assistant are comedy gold. So far the magician's intentionally hit his assistant (who he loves to deride and call a whore) with throwing knives, been saw'd in the balls by a table saw stunt, and stabbed with a sword and set on fire by his assistant.

I also just grabbed a black, drop-top Peyote with zebra patterned seats and dice in the mirror - nice.

Bah, I've only seen the Knife throwing, Levitation, and the Guillotine trick so far. Need to visit that club more, that magician kicks ass.

The Pisswasser advert always gets me too.

Yeah, Pisswasser ads crack me up - the first time I heard it on the radio I just had to pull over to listen to it I was laughing so hard. "...drive drunk, off a pier!" always makes me laugh.
