You can go and solo instance/raids! Main difference from a real server vs a private, that I noticed, is the CS's you would get in a real server don't exist in the private. Maybe I just need to go through BT again w/o other GM's, so we aren't destroying everything in sight and respawning illidian every 30 seconds lol. But I didn't notice the CS's you would normally get before the illidian fight, or the other BT CS's.

Those event scripts are almost always missing from private servers. Try running kara to chess or even Mr. Smite in deadmines to see what I'm talking about. Few people have the sophistication to actually code the events properly so they estimate based only on boss timers. It's a small miracle that doors open. I wonder what BRD is like...haha.

the doors in Magister's Terrace dont open after killing the bosses >.> i had to .gm on to be able to open them...

also in scholomance i ended up locking myself int he balcony where you fight the bat guy >.>

I kinda wish the scripts were there... i mean thats what i liked about WoW lol... the bosses seemed real you know with the cheesy taunting and all xD

The one cutscene where it shows you where kj is supposed to be still triggers on touch of the orb. However a lot of the scripts aren't perfected nor is the core or the database. You gotta remember that a lot of this is datamined from official server wdb files so a lot is missing. The core itself is built from the ground up and has just started getting good. The frequent crashing of my server is because I'm trying to keep up with core revisions yet the DB that is out isn't even close to where the core is right now.

I have been thinking about rolling the server back if there is no damage to accounts and charcters. But I need to speak to one of the founders of UDB first to see when the next release is and what core is supported under it.

But it is said that MaNGOS nor UDB will ever have anything perfect... Well at least not in the life of WoW.

I noticed there being event scripts. Like Illidian talked his shit, yatta yatta. But the other lady didn't jump in to help kill Illidian at the end, nor did he go into different phases (But I can't solo Illidian and live long enough to see if he does in fact change phases). What I meant by CS's were actual FF style CS's that you get in the game. Such as the fight before Illidian where Akama talks to you in a non-controllable sequence, stuff like that

That's the same thing, under the hood. Instead of just playing a sound and moving npcs around it also moves your camera.

I'm tempted to sign up just to see what limitations exist in the game mechanics due to missing scripts. Does mind control work properly (e.g. Razorgore)? Can you still complete quests like "The Fel and the Furious?" Do encounters like Broodlord in BWL (or the hallway in Shattered Halls leading up to Porung, or the trash before Murmur) function properly?

i can tell you right now the razorgore fight has no scripts whatsoever. there are just packs of mobs already up when you walk in, where they'd normally spawn in the encounter. and that's it. vael doesn't do the whole thing with nef, but BA functions like it should. don't know about the other encounters you mentioned, though.

Well since I got tired of the pain in the ass crashing I finally found a restarter that works! I have about 3 running! One for ash one for aspen and one for the realm server! FUAFDFAKL;FJA;SLKDFJA If it goes down it should restart within a millasecond (Or at least it should start loading up again)! Sorry about the crashs guys but for now this is the only alternative. ! At least it won't be down for long.

I am waiting for rev 5800 or a new udb before I recompile since I'm sick of recompiling.

Yeah so "I" received a letter from Comcast which got a letter from blizzard about the private server and how its illegal etc etc... Basically I will be shutting it down. However I will be backing up the "character" and "realmd" database meaning all accounts and characters will be restored if I ever decide to bring the server back up.

I won't be pasting the letter as its just the cookie cutter "hey your doing this and your not allowed to its illegal" slap on the wrist email however since I'm not the one that pays for the connection and the person that does is flipping out about this email the server will be going down. I'm sorry guys ! It was fun while it lasted.

Not sure if this will work with the server, but by logic it should...

Have you tried running Peer Guardian? It blocks incoming IP's such as corporations trying to track people downloading their products through P2P networks.

Well... I have backed up the characters and accounts and deleted the databases and server files as well as uncompiled sources I had left over. I wanted to say thank you all for playing and I hope you had a wonderful time! If anyone wants to set up their own I'm always here to help the in experienced. This was a great learning experience for me.
