Anybody using FiOS having connection difficulty?

I can connect to POL fine, but get 3100 - Cannot connect to lobby server when trying to connect to FFXI.

Is anybody else getting this problem? And if you have, how did you fix it? A friend of mine mentioned that Verizon has been messing with packet filtering which might be the problem.

Yeah, I am having difficulty too with FFXI - 3100. Verizon FIOS
As a result of reseting my router(because I forgot my admin password), my d-link router crapped out so I won't be able to even test this until I get a new one tomorrow.

I noticed that you're in LI. I'm also in the NYC area (Rockland), so maybe they did something locally around here? A friend of mine also has FiOS and he had connection problems about a week ago but they just randomly went away.

I spoke to someone from Verizon and after doing the usual fixes such as resetting the router which didn't do anything, he told me to check out http://www.internettrafficreport.com/ and pointed out that Asia's Index was low so it was probably a problem on S-E's end. He said the problem would probably go away on its own. >.>

When I did ask him about closing ports, he said that Verizon does have port 80 closed. I guess I'll try that port forwarding thing tomorrow.

I have been getting the FFXI-3001 error also when trying to log in. I did the portforwarding thing that the PoL support crew told me about and it still has not worked...they said it has to be something on Verizons end having trouble connecting to the Japanese servers so yeah I'm out of ideas to try now. =( If anyone knows a solution then that would be greatly appreciated.

Same. I just got done configuring my router for port forwarding and still the same error.

If this doesn't resolve itself in a few days, I guess I'm switching ISPs.

Have you try either this way?

Go into router page, and click the release button, and then the renew button for your ip.

or

connect your pc directly to the modem, and then restart the pc and modem. Then do start > run> type "cmd" > /ipconfig release > wait 1mins > /ipconfig renew.

And then just reconnect your pc to router and restart the pc again.

I did directly connect to the modem and still no luck, but I am unsure as to how I renew my IP. I called Verizon today and they also said they weren't having any problems =/.

I was able to log on this morning out of the blue. Anyone else have the problem fixed?

Yeah I was able to get on too. My dad's friend got me a new router so I thought thats what fixed it but I guess not.

Could have been a bad master route. This happens occasionally and the ISP responsible for the offending device doesn't always like to own up to it.

That'd be my guess if it just started working on its own, anyway.
