I've been searching around and gave up at about a lil over a half an hour. There's something I don't like about BG's search functions. Digging into the old pages with crtl+f seemed to work better. I'm looking for knowledge and advice on resistance builds. This has been asked before, but normally in the context of having barspells and carols up. And there don't seem to be anything in the realm of mechanics posted, only general (albeit good) advice, for tanking sets.
I was just looking to see if I could come up with any set worthwhile solo, ie Genbu. With current things I have, and things I can easily obtain, I can get up to +166 water resist. I don't know if it'll make any difference at all. I wouldn't have access to barspells or carols. This gear would be automatically macro'ed in when kiting. Anyway, moving on, if people can help it I'd like responses more geared in the direction of elemental resist on a player, versus a mob's spell--mechanics if possible--rather than any talk about Genbu.
Talking to a pretty good tank on my server, he was mentioning that he believed elemental resist as being tiered. IE, at certain points, increasing a resist stat by 1 would increase the probability that you'd 1/2, 1/4, etc, resist a mob spell would increase by a certain %. Additional points will do nothing until the next tier is broken. Something like that. Of course, I suppose this wouldn't be universal given other elements that could come into play such as the type of mob, the element of the day, the level of the mob or player, etc.
Sorry to be a pain and ask this. I can always go out and sort of test it on non-HNM mobs (or in ballista?) first. But... any ideas/advice? Would +166 versus a God be utterly useless?
