    Sounds like Alzheimer's disease, unfortunately. Take em to a doc to get him evaluated asap. The disease is caused by a protein called "beta amyloid." It forms senile plaques which basically are tangled or twisted proteins called polysomething... Anyways, it's been said that if we grow old enough, eventually all people will get the disease, i.e. intrinsic. Finally, something useful I learned @ skool.

    Could also be caused by a stroke. My grandmother used to get these mini-strokes and would need to be hospitalized for a bit. It would leave her slightly delusional. She always knew I was related, but she would call me by my aunt's name. By the time she was released from the hospital she'd be fine.

    It was stroke-induced, yes.
