I expect to win at least 1 XP scroll.
I expect to win at least 1 XP scroll.
I'm surprised we made it five pages in Advanced before cynicism kicked in.
Guh! Not that i'll win cause i have horrible luck but.-
1st i would take the gil
2nd would take v. belt or the gil
3rd probably homam legs :3
I totally don't expect to win anything.
Still playing with all my mules though... >.>
Just in case.
so it takes SE one full month to randomly generate 5 numbers?Mog Bonanza marbles available for purchase from May 16 till May 28.
The winning numbers will be announced on June 30.
Prizes available for collection from July 2 till July 31.
my take on it is that it's not gonna be random and they are going to look at all the tickets and pick the combination that has the fewest occurrences for the rank 1 prize.. or possibly a combo that no one got at all.
it would make sense for them b/c it'd be the best way to keep this under control. and the best way to milk money from us from all the new content IDs everyone would make just for this contest
There theoretically could be a decent amount of gil going in to the servers assuming everyone chose gil.
A ticket costs 1000 gil.
100,000 tickets would cost 100,000,000 gil.
For every 100,000 tickets purchased, there will be 1 rank 1 prize winner(100,000,000 total gil).
For every 100,000 tickets purchased, there will be 9 rank 2 prize winners(90,000,000 total gil).
For every 100,000 tickets purchased, there will be 90 rank 3 prize winners(90,000,000 total gil).
For every 100,000 tickets purchased, there will be 900 rank 4 prize winners(90,000,000 total gil).
That's a 370,000,000 gil awarded per 100,000,000 gil invested in tickets, or 3,700 gil per every 1,000 gil ticket. However, FFXI doesn't have a large enough playerbase to make this reliable. The variance is too high and the lottery results are going to be extremely random.
It's not economically feasible to exploit this. If you tried you would have to purchase 100,000 lottery tickets to be completely safe. A single account is capable of acquiring 160 tickets, thus 625 accounts would be needed. A trial account can be started for $2, so a total of $1250 is needed to start all of the required accounts. The trial periods expire at the end of the month which explains the large time gap between entering and claiming the reward. You'd have to do a monthly payment on 625 accounts with 16 characters ($17468.75) and another monthly payment on anywhere between 7 and 625 accounts with an undetermined amount of characters($????), although it would probably be best to just ditch most of the rank 4 prize winners. Ideally you would net $11337.30 worth of gil(based on current mogs prices), not even enough to cover the first monthly fee. RMT farmers actually sell their gil to retailers for much cheaper than what you pay, so I can't say how much money they'd actually get from 270M gil. This doesn't factor in the price of labor either(good luck leveling 10,000 accounts to level 5) and any other kind of profit loss that I haven't thought about. Either way, it's completely impractical.
Anyways... It should have been blatantly obvious they weren't using a traditional lottery system. I wouldn't even agree that thinking so would be 'correct assumption' in this case. I'm totally buying 10 of the same ticket and hoping my number wins rank 1. I'd send mules with gil to 16 different serves and buy dynamis currency then bring them back and finish a shitload of relics all at once.
Unless the order matters as well, then it would eliminate all possibility of it being a drawing of number. Such as if you banking that there is going to be a 1 in the drawing, but no sure which digit it is going to be, so you place 11111 so that you have 50% chance of winning the lowest prize.Originally Posted by RKenshin
So there can be 2 possibilities, one being that it can be all 10 numbers for all 5 digits. Another being that it can be a drawing but you must have the right order of number. Either way will provide pretty much the rarety SE wants for the best prize.

Ey. The Fonz agrees.
I like the fact that a Rank 3 win could get me a Seveneyes. Lol @ Homam Pants being placed in that Rank tho, since we all know it's the best piece of the five on every job that can equip.
Incoming shitstorm of people that get all but the middle digit. The conditions for winning are as follows:
Rank 1 prize: all five digits.
Rank 2 prize: last four digits.
Rank 3 prize: last three digits.
Rank 4 prize: last two digits.
Rank 5 prize: last digit.
example:
Your numbers: 41242
SE draws: 41342
And you'd only get rank4 ...
Imagine how much that would suck.
You could activate all those accounts under the trial. Purchase tickets, then deactivate. Only activate winning accounts. Profit!
Moldavite Earring, Empress Hairpin, Leaping Boots and Rain Hat is the secret to killing AV. He'll insta-die if you wear them all at once.Originally Posted by byte
I think they should have increased the level limit because level 5 is stupidly easy to get to for RMT, but 70+ is just completely ridiculous.
You just have a sandy vag because you have to share the chance of winning with more people.
this will be the gilbuyers new way of hiding their bought gil, instead of a friend quitting or gardening. I WON THE LOTTERY!
lmao, good idea! That would be nightmarish to manage though.Originally Posted by Popsiclestick

thats a neat trick where ya hiding the hairpin?
If RMT really do start this (and probably even if they don't) the price on this item is going to fucking sky rocket:

The best weapon for MNK 1-5? And MNK is the best/quickest job 1-5?
Wow just wow. Not the extremely happy kind but pessimistic.
I'm sure all the winners will be like rank 4 nubs with 1 job at 60 after 1 year+ of playing and 3/5 AF. Or someone even less deserving.
But that wouldn't be much different then ffxi anyway when someone could work for an item/a somthing for 3 years or more and just have shitty 'luck' while another guy could play for 2 months and be 1/1.
I never imagined they would do this, but I guess hats off too them cause it will make them $$$. People will probably make extra accounts for this even, max mules, and will have to keep them for 2 months to even know if they won.
Well, at least this event will make it easier for me to get Dusk Gloves +1. Someday soon.
:bagel:
SE might as well just offer a service that allows people to buy gil directly from them.
Actually they'll be taking a lot of money out of circulation with this little stunt. Figure people have an average of 2 mules + main character, 10 marbles per for 1000 gil each, thats 30k per person. 30k per person with some 5000 people per server, 32 servers, thats 4,800,000,000 gil.
