Was wondering what was the lowest number of people that I could safely kill KV with and how we would go about killing it. I have mnk/nin. Would this work for tanking or should I try to get a nin or pld to help with this?

>_> God damn these forum rules.
It's a zerg fight, numbers and high damage output are all you need. We've dropped it with as little as 10 and I'm sure we could have done it with less but uh it's a 40 second fight just ask your friends to show up when you get it.
chainspell stunners are nice.
I've always thought of it as a Zerg fight too... but one of our guys who transferred from Seraph mentioned he's killed it another way. KV's blind as a bat, so I don't doubt it can be killed in a slower way.
Just need a good evasion NIN/DRK and enough DDs to overcome regen and drive it's HP down. Then it's just a matter of spamming Antidotes and making sure you don't get hit by Critical Bit (i think that's the move) since it resets your hate.
His en-petrify may also cause problems. You could try getting a Sand Mantle to help out with that.Originally Posted by Hakamaru
I'd be willing to bet 3-4 well-geared DRKs, 2 BRDs, and 1 RDM/DRK could do it. DRK/NIN can kite it easily while waiting for the others to arrive. If you don't have that, I probably wouldn't go below 10 people with at least 2 of those being a bard and a rdm/drk. Also, as long as the rdm is on the ball, any job with shadows can kite that thing very easily.
1-2 RDM/DRK, 1-2 BRD's, and then 4+ SAMs should do it. A WHM helps for keeping folks alive. I think the last KV I got off 6 or 7 WS, did 6000dmg myself.
just out of curiosity, does anyone know how fast KV regens?
would it be possible to load it up w/ enough DoTs to counter it or come even close w/ Scholars? Do the helix things stack from multiple SCH?
Nope, can't DoT it to death.
It has like 20k HP and will maybe regen 4-10k or so (no clue really) in a minute, as long as you can deal about 25-30k within a minutes time you're fine. This isn't hard to do for most zergs.
Sorry for the thread hi-jack but for holding, are W. Legs or other types of movement speed+ needed? Could a SAM/NIN geared for evasion hold it with a RDM there to haste?
Edited for wording.
I would be very suprised if a Sam/Nin would be able to hold it to be honest. The least amount of people we tried it with was 8. Of course one of our CS Stunners wasn't paying attention and we all know how that ended up![]()
And no, movement speed isn't required. It does help of course, but if you can just kite him around the cactus, you're fine.
I think you meant you would be surprised if a SAM/NIN would not be able to hold it.Originally Posted by BrillCS
Honestly...that thing sucks with accuracy and a SAM/NIN with a RDM there to haste (what was asked) would have no problem holding....just make sure the RDM is buffed and ready to run if he pulls hate.

Pretty sure they "fixed" this.Originally Posted by Naramaska

Without much money you can get a shitload of +evasion. Bat earrings and wind staff already totals at +40 evasion for like, what, 20-30k? Add in other cheap stuff like jack'o'lanterns, optical if you have it, etc. Being anal you can get well over +110 eva.
So a RDM would be able to hold it? Is it sleepable? Gravable?
Gravity lands easily.
Really the only difficult part is that he regens TP over time, so if you're holding for long periods solo you risk dieing from the damage by occasional TP attacks adding up on you. It's only once every few to several minutes though, so it's not that frequent.
Just remember antidotes, because if anything the poison effect is what is most likely to kill you. Could probably hold it indefinitely solo with a good amount of antidotes, blind potions for bat earrings, and maybe some au laits and hi-pots.
Thanks for the replies, we'll give it a try. Holding was our main concern.![]()
KV has exactly 25K HP, same as Bv2. 4-5 well, equipped DRKs with 2 BRDs can him quite easily, provided they have a good RDM/DRK and a WHM.Originally Posted by RKenshin
