No, they didn't fix the thing where you can pin him on the plants. I had never killed, let alone kited KV before, and i went into an LS that regularly did him. I was asked to go out as NIN one day to hold, and someone told me to take to the cactus thing... and it was a cake walk. My first KV kite wasn't long (maybe 40 minutes?) but the next couple days were like 2 hours. You can hold him forever as long as you aren't a retard.

So a RDM would be able to hold it? Is it sleepable? Gravable?

The only really deadly TP move he has is Death Scissors; I hit my Utsu: Ichi macro instead of : Ni and ate a 1600 Death Scissors through Stoneskin. ~_~ Other than that easily Gravable as Rukenshin said, and make sure to have antidotes in case you get hit by his poison.

They fixed the thing where you could pin him on the three plants to the eastern side of his spawn area. It used to be insanely easy to hold him there without any movement speed items while building hate and staying out of range of any of his TP moves. Now if you even get close to those plants he draws you in.

Happens to me on RDM far too frequently as of late. Usually it's Death Scissors rather than Venom Bite, not that it matters since they both kill the shit out of you.

DRK/NIN kiting with W. Legs and ABS-TP is pretty useful too.

Kiting is for suckers. But absorb TP is nice, I will admit.

Easy as fuck to kite, 1 rdm/nin can do it but add a nin/whm or drk/nin and it's beyond easy. I've held it up for like 5hrs before. (if rdm/nin use barwater and barpoison and you dont even need antidotes.)

Can prolly kill it with 8-10 easily. 1RDM/DRK, 2BRD and some very good DD is about all you need. Before the RC Fix we had a DRK/SAM do 43% damage to it one day rofl, so it's cake to zerg if you know what to do.

Prolly a combo of #1 and ppl not moving in like i asked and getting drawn in a lot.

Claimed it today, didn't have ppl to fight it. Couldn't kite it for shit as mnk/nin. Full eva swaps hardly missed me even with dodge up. Mages had their thumbs in their asses or something. Killed us pretty quickly.

Killed it with 11 with 4 DDs. RDM/NIN and NIN/WAR were kiting

1 RDM/DRK - CSS
1 BRD/WHM - SV 2x March
1 WHM
3 DRK/NIN - 2 krakens
1 MNK/WAR
2 RDM/WHM (1 dual boxed by me didnt even use)

It was a complete massacre.

Pretty sure as long as the CSS is good and 2 bards 2 kraken drks could drop it.

We went with so few because of GM pressure

This is what I did. My solo record holding was about 35 min, with help of some Yag.Juices and a nearby Beetle, until both of us ran out of MP.

And Abs-TP makes the kiting very safe.

Btw, I always used the north area from his spawn, I never knew of any locking cactus, so that place was best.

Thanks for all the tips/advice, but after the third wipe, its pretty clear to me that I'm not going to beat this with just random ppl off my friend list. I'm done with sam for now.

Giving up on SAM or just getting gear for it? Either way that's too emo dude <_< someday you may get an ass helm you'll never know. For now Turban is a great choice unless you already have capped haste from /drg and Wyvern earring.
