Military has to be forced to use our own oil reserves, we're all screwed and dead, anyways. World War III, nuclear holocaust, "Soviet" invasion, cut off from our own allies; take your pick. Basically, civilization will prolly be reverted a century or so if this is required, and we'll prolly not have many vehicles for gas, anyways.

Would be funny if the middle east decided to retaliate on our retaliation someday with a cold war. Embargo on oil to the US or allied nations.

Yeah, because not exporting their only export would only hurt our economy, not theirs.

If the middle east really wanted to crush the U.S. they've got much more effective routes than an oil embargo.

    Like flying airplanes into buildings?

Besides, we're only one customer. They got the rest of the world to sell to, even if they cut off merely our portion of the market.

Saudi Arabia could decide it doesn't like us and pull out all its investment in our debt. Which we'd then have no choice but to default on.

That'd cause a pretty catastrophic economic collapse.

Could've made its own topic out of this, but I believe this is somewhat relevant:

And why is it that the dollar is failing? Oh right, printing money to pay fake bills.

Your gas tax goes to building roads, ever drive across country recently?

Wow. The idiocy is rampant in this one. What caused the dollar to devalue? Well, let's see...How about a piss poor economy. What results from a piss poor economy? Interest rate cuts. What is the side effects of interest rate cuts? Now the interest rate gap between the dollar and other currency (Euro, etc) has widened, causing holding onto another currency having a higher return rate by holding it. I know this is difficult for someone to understand this economic concept that people learned in high school, but interest rates effect the the value of the dollar.

US accounts for 1/10th of 1% of the world oil demand. You think an embargo on exports to US will hinder their economy? Hardly...

I wonder if you realize why that's important.

Not only does it make Iran richer, it also takes away an excuse for high prices by increasing the supply to the rest of the world. Iran has enough oil to not just create heavy competition for the mid-Asian market shares, but to pretty much drive any competition completely out of there.

You best not let the government know, or they'll make excuses to enter Iran next!

It's sad you probably really believe what you are typing. I can write pages on how interest rates are cut by the feds. What's even more amazing is you thinking that the fed simply prints money to increase the amount of money in circulation when that is just a flat out lie. If the fed wanted to increase the money supply, they'd adjust the banking reserve rate which effects the flows of the money supply. It just isn't as simple as printing money. Your trolling isn't even entertaining anymore.

I don't and I acknowledge I don't. You could open the most basic of college level econ books and recite what I've typed. Between this thread and the stimulus thread, some of the posts I've read (mostly by churchhill) are amazing. It's like he really thinks he the brainchild of Greenspan and Bernanke. "we print more money lulz" "The idea of how a stimulus works is stupid economics and how we are in a recession". Seriously. Act like you at least know something about the Fed and monetary policy. You know, the stimulus plan just may fail, but that's if the recession has already troughed and is on it's way back up. That's why in all of those boring hearings with Bernanke months ago he said "If we do a stimulus, it has to be done very quickly". If we are already out of the trough and are heading toward peak, it will fail.
