just finished downloading/installing ffxi for my pc. ive been playing on ps2 for a few years and decided to move to pc for better graphics/performance. another reason is because seeing screen shots of peoples games looks a lot better. ps2 if im in an aliance, it basically takes up most of my screen along with the chat box. also what ive seen in screen shots is little tweaks it looks like. like cool down counters and icons look cleaner and such. was wondering what they were called and where i could get them.

ok so ive been reading windower and all the little addons i could get. my question would be would using it be a bannable offense? seeing as how its a third party program?

yes, if you are not using the SE sanctioned windower then you are using 3rd party tools and however small the benefit (ie. seeing PT members' TP) it is considered illegal and a bannable offense

however

to my knowledge no one has been banned conclusively for use of windower only, typically they are banned for fleetools or being afk when their bot goes off/fishbotting etc, and they say they got banned for windower on this or that forum as windower is less shameful than say fishbotting for example

You're not supposed to be using them, but 99% of people playing on PC use them. Just don't go shouting at people in random pickup pt's that they don't need to tell you their tp. Some self-righteous jackasses might feel inclined to call a GM on you. ;p

Yarnball and Recast should probably cover your recast timer needs, both on the plugin page for windower.

FFAssist2 is very very very good also. On-screen realtime map, alarms for mob abilities(stuff you should dispel)/party buffs(Regen, Haste, etc..) and cooldown timers for spells and JA's. A little complicated setting it up, but once you do.. <3333333

Relatively simple, just renaming files. Like windower, it's harmless as long as you don't go shouting about it in whitegate or do something that would make it obviously apparent.
