Re: Sneak and Invisible 100% effective?

The only problem with the 99.99% theory is that the vast majority of examples here are Kindreds, with like 2 stories of other crap. Throw out all the Kindreds and see if the pattern fits.

lol you're nuts if you think they're running a detection check that often. Most likely they check it once per mob, each time you enter aggro range and then again if you perform an action.
    thank you <_<

regardless of how often it check, I was just trying to show that 1/10000 wouldnt be so rare. say it was only 10 times every second, it'd still be 1/1000 chance which means that standing next to a mob for 10 min would be a high chance of aggro. At least 2-3 people would get aggro in one aspid pop interval(assuming you have 10-20 people).

never failed me but theres bewn times when a mob looked me right in the face in agrro range and didnt aggro. specifically goblins and bombs. man when your level 25 and a goblin smithy looks you right in the face and doesnt aggro your heart stops lol. in the old days i almost craped my pants a few times in krt when a spartoi was 2 feet away and didnt aggro.

Did anyone notice that ALL those screenshots have people recasting sneak on themselves? Meaning, you got aggro while you were recasting it, then you finished casting, then the mob finally hit you thus removing your sneak.

The shit is 100%. They just put the 99.99% thing there because some mobs are true sound.

    ! Winrar

It's definitely 100%, Kindred Summoners don't have true sight or sound on some spawns...
I've had this happen with some mobs, but I chalk it up to not paying attention lol.

Wait, I don't see a Kindred in any of those SS. Everyone has aggroed something plenty of times by accident, but there's a reason why some people recall those mobs in particular aggroing without a mistake of their own.

I don't think this means that sneak/invis are meant to not be 100% on normal mobs. I think this means is that the aggroing code for certain particular mobs can be faulty, and that has happened before. Back in 2004 there was a minor update that fixed some Pots at Delkfutt's having a chance of aggroing without anyone casting anything.

Just to play devil's advocate, you can't tell what time they casted sneak and when they got aggro just from the Screenshot wihtout timestamp. In fact a couple of those posters very clearly clarified that they casted sneak, set amount of time passed, then got aggro.

    Just sayin...

I personally agree with those that believe the Kindred Summoners are just bugged... way too many people reporting this with that specific mob.

"BECAUSE IT HASN'T HAPPENED TO ME IT CANNOT HAPPEN"

It can happen, it has happened, get over it
Mobs aggroing because I have hate on another mob in the zone is stupid, considering I ran past a dozen demons and only a *gasp* kindred summoner aggrod me. I was on blm so running slow as fuck, so chances are it would have caught up if I got aggro while i was casting sneak/invis.

Re: Sneak and Invisible 100% effective?

I'm in the "Kindred are glitched, other incidents are lag/dumb players" camp. Far too many reports of one specific type of monster. If all monsters truly had this same "glitch," then we would be hearing more horror stories about other aggroing mobs that are passed daily.

Just because it hasn't happened to you doesn't mean it can't happen is a way for people with no argument to try and win a fight. Get evidence or give up.

100% minus lag, glitches, and dumb players ftw.

I'm gonna go with the Kindred Summoner being glitched thing. This happened to me before but I chalked it up to my being an idiot. It has never happened to me with any other mob in the game however and judging from the other screenshots, they were aggroed while they were reapplying sneak.

Re: Sneak and Invisible 100% effective?

After four to five years of sneaking around in places I shouldn't go, being detected through sneak/invis has happened maybe 5 times from mobs that shouldn't be true sight or true sound. There have been instances in the mountains where I have been hit by a linking Demon after pissing off a Taurus and outrunning it. Those are easy to tell. However, after spending time on the mountain for weeks on end soloing bombs and then moving past demons with sneak and invis both up and no way in holy hell of catching Taurus aggro, it cannot be a linking issue. They either detect through sneak/invis or there is a chance to fail. If there is a chance to fail, it is very small. Since it happens so rarely, people are less likely to make an issue of it. It's adventurer appreciation time. Take a look at how many GM calls you've made. Most people I know that have been playing for the better part of half a decade have about 5 calls to their credit. Now look at the forums where people bitch and complain about shit like this. Why do people not call GMs? Because it's easier to work around the issue then it is to push through squeenix in trying to get them to fix it. Especially when the problem is so rare. So how do we tell? Call a GM next time it happens. Explain that you got thwacked in the ass on the way up the mountain despite having sneak and invis up and ask if it's 100%. They might give you a straight answer....

    ...but I doubt it.

Still curious how you can tell what time they are casting sneak and getting aggro...

I'm saying it's a bit more than mere coincidence that all those screenshots just HAPPEN to have someone recasting sneak in them. Don't you think so as well or are you going to ignore evidence that contradicts your belief?

are you going to ignore the people when they say there is a 20 sec difference between sneak casting and getting hit? Demons are fast

I've had it happen to me a couple times using Silent Oils in Boyahda Tree running by Robber Crabs. I used the oil well out of the aggro range of the crabs, then crossed by them and suddenly got attacked. There was no "about to wear off" message showing up or anything, and I'm absolutely certain I didn't click off on it, but nevertheless, it was clear that it aggroed through my sneak.

The Boyahda Tree is a different place. Most things in the game aggro sound + sight. Most things in tBT (lower level anyway, as I've yet to run up to the top) aggro sound + scent. Your crabs in tBT are this way.

Nothing in this game aggroes to Scent... or am i reading what you said wrong?
som mobs will track you on Scent, thats ONLY AFTER they aggro you innitially, which is why when your out of range rather it be sleep/repose, you Full Hide (i.e Sneak/Invisi/Deod) and this helps you lose hate.

However, you dont need Sneak and Deoderize to get past Crabs... Just sneak.

While I was leveling bst there, I took aggro from crabs in tBT while coffer hunting with sneak up only. I'm pretty sure that you need deoderize as well, however, I'll make a trip back to the tree and see if my bst is still low enough to aggro crabs and I'll come back and post with a definitive answer.
