Uh, yes they do. By making more money with the seed 10m, you can pay for more dynamises while making a profit. In these dynamises, you eventually get the piece you want.

I can't even recall the last time a Hades dynamis linkshell made a profit strictly on Dynamis.

I'd still rather have the sure "suckers" bet. When you spam the icelands zone for as long as I have, and not seen the drops you want, well... you can keep your gil. There's only so many Sniper Rings +1 you can buy.

Interesting you should say that, I was thinking the same thing since the lotto was announced. For any given person, there's only so much shit off the AH you can actually buy, and I doubt it's worth 100m total. Still, the best use of that money would be to make more money, which could be used to get you better positioned in end game events and the like. What I mean is, the money can ultimately get you the items you want with cash left over, meaning its more flexible than just getting the item. For that reason, and random personal one, that the cash is the smarter pick.

Dynamis was fun for the first while, when we were figuring it all out. Then it was fun when you acted like a retard and skilled up/mpked the group, now it's the most boring time sink ever invented. Two years of doing 2~3 Xarca's a month and not having a single *insert your drop here* and almost ruining your life to make sure you don't miss a single run is the biggest bullshit ever.

It's not about money, it's about practicality, which is defined by flexibility, which is why raw cash is generally superior (that and I have my crown already and body isn't worth 1m. ¬¬) You get the item, great, but you'll eventually want something else and you wont have the cash to fall back on. For a while on Gilgamesh there was a JP guy, Umetaro, who was already pretty well-established. He created a linkshell, UmeShu, and basically did an open invitation Dynamis. Anyone could come, list primary and secondary relic pieces that they wanted, and if it dropped, it would freelot.

Most, if not all, of the people who came were competent players who knew a lot about Dynamis. They only gave pearls to people who they thought were reasonably competent as well. UmeShu regularly did Xarcabard runs with 64 people - I attended once or twice when my regular LS canceled runs, and I was impressed at how much of a trail of destruction they were able to blaze throughout Xarc. Lots of currency and relic dropped, and people were mostly honest (one person apparently did ninja-edit his list, lotted a Shadow Mantle he shouldn't have, and server-transferred shortly after.) Umetaro brought in enough currency to upgrade a Mandau and start working on other relics as well. It was fairly impressive - I think he consistently made a profit, or could have if he decided to sell the currency. Of course, at some point he decided to quit and sold his character to someone who promptly server-transferred. I have no idea where the character is now, or what happened to the people who were left in the cold Dynamis-wise. >.>

I had a point with all this. Oh right. If you've got the money, and have a reasonably established set of connections for the initial seeds, you could probably make your own using a similar model. Though Umetaro might have been a special case.

Personally I love dynamis. I'm a part of a public dynamis LS that currently runs 3 runs/week (used to do 4/week, but reduced attendance has dropped us to 3/week). The core group of people in our shell are all very experienced with around 300 runs each and have stuck around forever providing a strong base for our public dynamis structure.

I enjoy rotating around in dynamis and experiencing everything, from main healing when i started, to DDing, main tanking, pulling, sleeping etc etc. I believe it would get old doing the same thing every single time, but when you are able to mix up your job it stays fresh.

Motivating people for 3.5hrs can be difficult, but setting goals for each run helps. Full clears in all cities (post boss) was an exciting time. Obtaining the 2nd hydra extension in glacier was another cool accomplishment.

CoP runs to me are unrewarding with the few drops that you receive, and to be honest the lack of enough mobs in some zones.

Obtaining all Xarc af2 for all my jobs keeps me going personally along with helping the others in the LS obtaining their goals.

10M doesn't compare to Chapeau for someone who's spent several years in Xarcabard waiting for it. Gil can only buy you so much. Chapeau would be worth more than 10M to me if I'd spent that long waiting for it. It's a matter of personal value. Items like that you can't put a price tag on when you can go x amount of years without y AF.

Oddly enough, Nyzul is one of my favorite things that SE put together. It's short, rapid fire and always interesting. You load up on fun items like Body Boost, Dusty Elixer and just go full power. Dynamis is pretty much the exact opposite. Salvage would be even worse, but they were smart enough to make it a lot shorter and there's lots of different things you can try to do on a Salvage run that mix it up a little bit.

it's not about practicality, because it's impractical for most people to buy into a new Dynamis LS. most Dynamis LS that you can buy into for 10M will probably suck (10M is not even 2 months worth of runs, and some people would have contributed well over a year into an LS and not see their Xarc AF). in most good LS, those people will not easily let you buy their lotting spot (at least not for 10M).

10M won't let you start your own LS for just 1 Xarc drop, 10M won't buy anyone the ability to run an LS if they didn't have that ability to begin with, it won't buy a group of people capable of showing up 10x in a row to do nothing but Xarc. 10M isn't worth the resentment that will follow if you break the LS after you get the 1 item you want and decide it's not worth the trouble to keep running a Dynamis LS you had no interest in running to begin with.

a financially intelligent person will be able to make the cash without a lottery when they need it. a financially ignorant person will waste it anyway so they might as well just get the item. if you're someone who needs 10M from a lottery to "fall back on", you're not going to do much with the "seed" money anyway.

Hypothetical situations and petty emotions don't enter into this, the fact of the matter is you'll potentially get more out of the money. Interpersonal relationships and desires are merely variables that can be ignored with a swift enough mind and a strong enough will.

Of course, this is all strictly for the sake of argument, since I seriously doubt any of us will get anything over Rank 3, and people are just going to do what they want either way. So this is about what will produce the most gain, since an argument about what each peron likes best is the asinine zam level convo everyone detests to much. As much as a person may WANT a particular weapon or piece of armor, that doesn't mean they'd get as much as one of the other items or, ultimately, what the money could get them.
