I play WHM without macros, and SMN for the most part. I occassionally forget I have up-to-date macros on RDM and cast manually there as well (usually just refresh/haste, though).

i use my old ps2 controller with an adapter on my pc. was like i never stopped playing on ps2 and its so much easier. playing on ps2=macros for everything imagineable

sometimes its much easier doing it manually, pressing macro is 'laggy' in its own way. You gotta PRESS ALT or CTRL and sometimes thats lags or delays, even sometimes your waiting for the pallet to appear. Even the pallet can cover up your utsu icon which I don't like. Having utsu on <st>, "the blue marker" is much faster and accurate. Take stunning, you gotta have that blue marker on top of that mob and be ready to press ENTER ASAP.

There's nothing more awesome than having to eat an attack round without shadows just because your Utsu macro lagged/didn't work/wanted to see you dead! One of these days I'll stop being lazy and make a full set of windower macros that are bound directly to the keys so I don't have to rely on something that only works if it wants to

If you bind keys using Windower that doesn't happen. They also fire off faster.



Not to ruin your moment or anything, but NINs used to solo Deco weapons all the time for ~5k (about chain 4) an hour back when 10k/hr Merit PTs were the best the game had to offer. To me the only really impressive thing was you managed to do it WITHOUT USING CASTING MACROS.

Nice video, but it's so odd to see a "naked" UI. Old (original) utsu icon? No recast timer? No party TP showing? It amazes me how much the basic SE UI is "missing".

I like how people speak like having a menu open waiting to hit enter isn't like holding down ctrl/alt before hitting a macro to prevent this magical lag that seems to affect everyone except for me. Then there's the whole fact that having a menu open with your cursor on the one spell you plan to cast in the future kind of prohibits you from reacting instantaneously to an "oh shit" moment with a useful macro or other course of action. Also seems to make you do stupid shit like build 140% TP before WSing just because you're waiting for the deco weapon to strip your last shadow.

I can't help but be unimpressed by this. I've been getting chain 4 (chain 5 seems unattainable with my current gear, doable with relic..) on decos in sky for well over a year. I don't have a single piece of Usukane gear, however I have dusk +1 feet/hands, speed belt, the full 23% haste. It just seems as though the OP is trying to make the Usukane set look like the ultimate in nin soloing gear when it's merely one option and not the end-all.

And yeah, not using macros? I don't know about you guys but I have ninjitsu/fast cast items macro'd into my nin debuffs so I land them nearly every time, unlike the OP who got jubaku resisted at the beginning and spent valuable time later in the fight recasting it.

the whole macro/not macro thing is really personal preference. Whatever works for you. OP got ch4, so it obviously works for him.

I macro a lot of stuff, but I never got the hang of switching between macro sets, so I tend to use menu for some things, mainly magic. I also use menu when I have to pay attention to just 1 thing, like stunning khim. Whatever works, really.

I got ch 4. on mnk/nin once -- but it was on mostly EM mobs (i think 1 was T, iirc,) on goobs and crab in boy tree. Monk has a lot fewer tools for staying alive, so you depend on luck -- hope mob won't get tp spammy with annoying move, hope it won't suddenly grow acc out the arse, hope you won't suddenly start missing like a blind drk in 2004, etc.
