    Vista Username Issue

I'm tryin to fix an issue for a friend of mine, but as I've never used Vista, I'm somewhat stumped o_O Any halp?

Basically, it was a computer that belonged to FellowA, who then sold it to FellowB.. They changed the User Name to FellowB, and all pertinent information [as far as they can tell] to FellowB as well- when you login it shows FellowB now, as well as in most places it should...

However, if you click in like Music folder, or any folder really, and click properties, its listed as USERS/FellowA/Whateverfolderhere... Its no big deal, just annoying I suppose to see FellowA's name everywhere although it was supposedly changed.

I've also gone through regedit, found the appropriate spot to change RegisteredOrganization and RegisteredOwner to FellowB, yet the folders continue to name themselves as FellowA's... any information on how to change that over?

    Thanks in advance--

    Re: Vista Username Issue

Windows accounts have two names, the internal name and the display name. The internal name is set at account creation and is basically unchangeable. The display name is changeable to whatever you'd like. The reason those folders still display the old name is because the folder hierarchy that holds user account data (C:\Documents and Settings\ in XP, I don't know about Vista) uses the original internal names to name folders, because if it renamed based on the display name, it'd break basically anything that had a stored path to the old name's folder.

The only option to get an account that's completely named FellowB would be to rename the old account back to FellowA, create a new FellowB account and migrate any important documents and user-specific settings to the new account. Whether that's worth the trouble is up to your buddy FellowB.
