I saw a good diagram a while ago showing positioning for BCCs discoid, I think it was on here but I am unable to find it. Does anyone have a link to it?

Something I just knocked up in MS Paint in about three minutes. Red circle represents BCC, blue circle represents melee/tanks and green circle represents mages. Simply put, mages should be within 10' of melee so as to help mitigate Discoid damage (10' radius from target) but out of range of Discharge and Inertia Stream (10' radius from Chariot). Distance plugin is an absolute dream for this. For people that don't have it (or Japanese members you might have trouble explaining it to) just yell at them to stand on top of you.
Meh, its more like:

Mages dont need to be getting hit by Diffusion Ray![]()
Yes, obviously you ensure you're not in the path of Diffusion Ray by standing at an angle. That's what the diagonal orientation of players in my diagram was supposed to illustrate, albeit badly.
I think I've personally made 3 different diagrams at different points in time, but this is the most recent one I could find, and is basically how my group fights it.

Why wouldn't you want the BRD in range of Discoid during Ballads?
Thanks for all the replys,
Suiram's is very close to what I was looking for thank you. Makes it a lot easier to explain for my new groups first bcc.

Regardless, I usually tank it at a bit of an angle so Diffusion Ray doesn't hit us full-on. It does 94 (I think that's the number) if you're far enough out of the way, and it won't start turning to face you until 50 or 25%, at which point you can either just eat it head-on, or keep moving around to avoid it as you would an unweakened LBC.
Something like this:

After songs are done, you can easily move back into discoid range. I hate when monks on LBC stand on opposite sides of an un-nerfed LBC. It sucks to be forced to either sing each melee song twice , or sit inside of aoe rangeOriginally Posted by Lilswitche

Yeah, it's the distance thing. If you're far enough away from the tanks that ballad won't hit them, then you are far enough away that you won't get hit by discoid since the attack is centered on one of them.
Fighting on the side to nerf Ray is the best, but BCC will turn once in a while. I'm always scared people screw up while we reposition.
The first few times we fought it we stood on the side first 50%, then repositioned after the first turn and just let tanks eat Diffusion Rays after that, but Diffusion Ray isn't bad enough really to be worth the risk--however small--of repositioning improperly before the next TP move and eating a 2-3 target Discoid. However, if you are okay with repositioning at will, standing the way that Ferien diagrammed is probably better than right on the side anyway, since it's giving him 4 TP moves to choose from, one of which is a weakened Diffusion Ray, rather than only the other 3.
Edit: Rereading now I see you meant standing just inside the Diffusion Ray cone, but I guess it's worth mentioning explicitly anyway.

- The PURPLE spot is where the Tank or Damage Dealers should stand. These people here are the ones that are going to get hit with Inertia Steam, Discharge, Diffusion Ray AND Discoid, therefore only the people who can tank should stand here. This zone is marked by the color RED.
- The PINK zone indicates where Inertia Steam and Discharge will hit players. No-one should stand in this area.
- The YELLOW areas indicate where a player will get hit by Inertia Steam, Discharge and Discoid. Again, no-one should stand in these areas.
- The LIGHT BLUEarea marks the point where players will get hit by Diffusion Ray and Discoid. Avoid standing in this area as you will take more damage than you should. This is a semi-safe zone, but again, try not to stand in it.
- The PALE ORANGEarea is where DIffusion Ray will hit you. No-one should be outside this far.
- The GREEN zones are where players will get hit by Discoid and no other Chariot Attack. THIS IS WHERE EVERYONE SHOULD BE STANDING (Unless you are a Tank/Mnk). It doesn't look like a very large radius, but it is.
Interia Steam and Discharge work at 10" AoE's around the Chariot.
Diffusion Ray is a 20" Conal Attack from the front of the Chariot.
Discoid is a 10" AoE around the Target.

We also used to side tank this and reposition when it turned but eventualy figured it was smarter to add Diffusion Ray into the list of Tp moves the charriot would do. And ofcourse, that reduced Discoid to almost laughable levels now. We do pretty much what has been sugested, keep tanks frontaly tanking but a little bit on the side to minimize Ray damage (although when it eventualy turns to full face we really don't bother moving the tanks much) and everyone just outside the cone area.
The last diagram there is very good, although i'd say that the ray's angle of effect is a bit smaller than it looks like there. Either way, apart from adding a TP move to the list, we also tank him frontaly so that our BLU (me on this fight) can land Jettatura to terrorize one or two Discoids through out the fight, reducing the damage even more.
I used to wonder why people said this guy was easy as hell and used to think they were crazy when they said it was a joke with 6 people even, but after doing it a couple times now i do have to agree, this guy's really easy given the right setup, and the diagrams here ilustrate the strategy perfectly.
