It'll almost certainly reinstall WGA so you'd need to circumvent it again.

I don't plan to go to Sp3 "jsut yet" few things...
1. About 25-50% people that have installed SP3 get the "endless reboot" error
2. Some people with an AMD cpu have reported bluescreen's after a few restarts
3. If you got a volume liscenece version (pirated or not!) you may get spammed with the "please register" thing every 5-10min.
4. Heard something bad with laptops...

4. Using a Vaio Laptop and no problemos
Again, have used it for about 2 months since my fujitsu hd went to the crapper. Never had problems so far, best of all it had all my Vaio's drivers.

That's interesting lol. Updated on my laptop with no problems. My desktop is giving me this error.Code:ERROR Access is denied. [OK]
There is no way to obtain the update via update or download if you dont have a legit key. There have been tricks to bypass WGA, but it's always changing, you can try googling stuff. The best way to get it would be to grab it from a torrent.
Izzy, where/when does that appear?
Mid-installation. I'll run it again and get a good screenshot if I can.Originally Posted by SephirothYuyX

Oh yeah, totally forgot that if you turn on automatic updates, you can still get updates if theyre pushed out to you, even if you dont have a legit XP.Originally Posted by Cautery

I dont remember any WGA checks in the install (or if it installs WGA itself), but either way you should be fine, MS realises that a lot of Net Admins install SPs on unregistered PCs, and I dont think SP2 had those problems either. '
TBH I cant be 100% sure that your PC wont be locked out after install, but im sure that 100s of non legit XP users have already installed this. Worst thing that can happen is that upon restart your PC will prompt you to input a XP Key, and you wont be able to get in to your PC untill you do so. So youre basicly forced to input a valid key. On the better side, a little notification may pop up in the right corner when you use your PC saying youre XP copy may not be legit, and you can just continue as normal.
You should be safe though.. but I guess you never know.

Nice list of errors I mentioned above, as said its not 100% people, so 3-4 people saying "nope no problems at all" isn't exactly the other few million people installing it and maybe few hundred thousand having problems with it
Since it takes about.... anywhere from 4-5 hours with all the customizations/optimizations I put on Sp3 and the little to nonexistant performance boost Sp3 gives, I'm going to wait it out till it has less chance of a problem. Because I dunno about you but I dread reinstalling the OS >.>
Although I should probably reinstall IE, its giving me strange errors lately, and I like it more then firefox... less memory intensive after 2+ days of usage
Try using the downloadable .exe I posted in the OP, instead.
That errors mentioned and a "possible" workaround is posted right above it at

Main problem seems to be blamed on "AMD CPU" and I'm sure there are more then 1000ish people using AMD (I use Intel E6850) but eh, its not one the only problems!
That didn't work, still got the same error. Going to play with the registry fixes now I guess Q_Q.Originally Posted by SephirothYuyX
