But yeah, the 10th amendment totally takes on a different meaning when you ignore the rest of the constitution. Libertarianism: the platform of selective reading.

The founders sure as hell weren't unified against 'big government.' They argued constantly.

If the constitution was meant to be the only thing the federal government, it wouldn't have made statements saying what the federal government can't do since that would be included the 'everything else' that's not allowed.

I think this is pretty specific:

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Too bad the Supreme Court hasn't exactly ruled this way every time, otherwise we'd still have illegal abortions and segregated schools like in the good ol' days.

While I generally agree with the Libertarian party, they will never receive my support. I signed up for information from them, which I received, only to be lambasted 1 month later for not donating at least $250. Keep in mind that I was a university student at the time, so I needed my $250 to eat. Overall, I hate the Libertarian party because they're just another version of Republicans and Democrats.

Ron Paul, while I haven't looked too hard into his thoughts, I can't take seriously as his name makes me think of Ron Popeil whenever i hear it.

The republican party is nothing if not disciplined. John McCain will be their nominee and there's nothing a bunch of internet crazies can do about it.

Ron Paul himself is a good politician with good principles. His supporters on the other hand are out of their mind and most of them probably have a lot of views he doesn't share and make him look bad. I was a fan of Ron Paul before he had the internet psychos backing him and the 9/11 Truthers backing him even after he said he did not believe that stuff.

This election cycle could be good for the libertarian party. (As in they become a viable alternative to the R party maybe?) There's a lot of disgruntled R's out there.
