FFXI running bad on new PC

Of course when I get in game I see that my new PC doesn't run FF as well as my old AMD Athlon XP. My new PC is a quad core, 8 GB RAM, GeForce 8800 512MB. My Athlon handles the AH area way better. Also on my new PC the game stops for a split second, like a stutter, about every 3 seconds. I've changed around the FFXI Config and tried updating drivers. I'm thinking this has to be a software problem or some settings that have to be changed somewhere. I'm on a 64-bit version of Vista, I miss XP already.

Try the 174.74 Nvidia beta drivers. 95% chance it's the problem.

Most likely that. If it doesn't work, also try forcing it to run on one core, this has helped a few people.

I think that lag problem is gone, I updated to the 169.17 drivers. I saw that new nvidia drivers thread but they didn't have the 174 in them, neither did the link to nzone or whatever that is on the POL site. I turned off the "QoS Packet Scheduler" which helped maybe 50%. I still get a slight stutter about every two seconds. Is there an easy way to turn off cores? I was looking at them in device manager before I found this problem. I'll look around on the nvidia site maybe they have the 174 drivers on there somewhere.

Yeah I just found those. I'm at work so I'll have to download them when I get home. Thanks.

Edit; Also trying to search forums on how to run on a single core but not having luck. I no good at searches.
