    No, HQ will be more frequent overall, because people will be more likely to level a craft since breakage reduction equates to more gil being available to skill off of. More 100+ crafters = more HQ entering the market. And why the hell would people want to NQ something outside of either skilling up or by request? NQ items typically sell for less than the cost of mats, and sometimes significantly less. People trying to make money from crafting will still be shooting for HQ.

    Edit, after seeing the translations: Ehhh. Well, on one hand, at least I don't have to go back to doing GP turn-ins on every mule. On the other... :/

    Curious how these will work, key item or whatever.

    If it's consumable like anvils or mandrels, and if they are cheap enough, they would be good for anything you can't hq. Would make my sheeting key item even better. This would be even better if it's an item you can place in your mh for a moghancement when you want the 100% nq results, but would be a pain in the ass to change around if you want to synth in WG.

    So what does the original Japanese say?

    It does, in fact, match the French and German versions. Looking it over, I think the mistake might have been simply wording. Instead of "you intentionally cannot make HQ," the translator chose, "you cannot, intentionally, make HQ."

    So, you have the "free will" to not allow the creation of HQ items... I guess? Maybe I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt for f'ing up.

    Anyway, the JP specifically states you intentionally eliminate the possibility of high qualities in exchange for a bonus to NQ items.

    They go on to say they think it'll help bring down prices for certain items and make skilling up more enjoyable. Why? Possibly because 1) the obvious boost to success the item grants, and 2) the ability to avoid "wasting" a synth on HQ, when you want the result for another synth.

    all crafts have synths that require an item much lower than the level your going for. Easiest I can think of was the buffalo jerky example. You need buffalo jerky to make carbonara. Buffalo jerky is a level 36 synth. Carbonara is 56. If your trying to HQ it like a son of a bitch, your +50 levels above the synth, meaning you HQ buffalo out the ass. Most people just level cooking on a mule because its CHEAPER than HQing something no one ever buys. Other examples are Oak Cudgel +1, Coral Hairpin/Gorget, all breads in cooking + tortilla's, etc etc.

    This update note pleases me.

    A way to make base materials, not only without the HQ "problem" but more reliably?

    Fuck yeah. Useful anywhere HQ's don't matter/aren't wanted (cloth, ingots, oak gawdammit +1'd again cudgels, etc.). Quality of crafting life winner.

    And storable Yigit. Just finished my set last month, +5 inventory spaces at will, w00t!

    Also, I think the English-speaking world would do better if we just had Elmer's direct translations from the JP updates. They make more sense. ^^

    Thats a prime example, I usually have to find someone to synth my jerky because I HQ like half the synths. My two other annoyances would have to be Stone Cheese (fucking HQ cheese ... ) and any bread that I have to craft. (pumpernickel ftl). I would assume Goldsmithers who HQd Orich.Rings will be semi pissed at this update. >_> lol

    I would have preferred what we originally thought it said, to curve the prices on HQ items which aren't worth the huge price tag (hi2u Kaiser Shield).

    And I don't think this crafting update makes things more enjoyable. It sounds like anyone and everyone will be able to level to 100 with ease. I'm hoping it creates inflation on materials though since the demand for materials will grow due to more crafters competing for them. And there will be more undercutting which means lower prices.

    I think we can all relax knowing that most of the people who level up a craft give up on it because of margins, or are too lazy to do it on a regular basis for gil.

    The people who level a craft now, just because it is easier, are probably less likely to make an effort to find a niche and use it on a regular basis for gil.

    At this point we can't be sure that it'll make your success rate 100% it just said increase. Also this could be a 80+ skill guild purchase. I'm almost positive that it will do what players have been asking for. When they are trying to get NQ synths for making ingredients that it'll 100% not be HQ because that's what all the crafters have been bitching about. Well that and actually adding more things to crafts but why actually add new content when you can just fix something that was stupid to begin with.

    I'm not so sure this is a good. I have three crafts at 100 and two more close. Buffalo jerky wasn't a big deal. You can level a mule to 30+ cooking in less than a day and make your jerky there and send it to your character with 100 cooking to make carbonara. Yes this update is more convenient than that, but will also bring the price of carbonara down. Most of us are very burnt out on doing gp, especially those of us with multiple 100 crafts. It would have been so much better if they let us just use HQ items in liu of NQ to synth with. Imperial wootz ingots will come down, but will not make any profit it all. More crafters at 100 will make the synth economy even more saturated than it already is, not to mention the slap in the face to everyone who had to work twice as hard to get to 100 before this. This update seems to be more for the consumer than the crafter at a time when crafters are already hurting.
