A little late, but I like almirahs-- lots of storage, can put things on top of them, they don't take a lot of space, and they look classy. I wish I could use them, but their elemental energy is absurdly high and ruins any chance of any useful moghancement.

Hmm, you know it occurred to me...

Amidst this recent trend, it has come to our attention that the function of some furnishings was not proportional to cost, resulting in them being largely ignored by players.

Yeah, I know...the high resolution mode doesn't even look like the same game

    High Resolution - 5950
    Low Resolution - 8038

Big improvement from my old computer \:D/

I assume their high resolution = anything larger than 640*480

Been running FFXI on 2800 x 1800 (background resolution) on a 1400x900 monitor to get some fake antialiasing effects though. It is fun to note that they don't even allow you to set these values unless you edit it manually in the registry.

Got sick of that and made a replacement ffxi config tool.

I thought the cap was on 2048, and if you went above this it defaults to 1024x1024 for background res.

I am also confused because I see people using 4:3, 16:10, and 16:9 ratios in thier background resolutions. Fomr my understanding this is the texture render depth and needed to be a square (2048x2048, 1024x1024, etc...), otherwise it'd default to the lesser value and square it. Anyone got any side-by-side comparisons? I run 1600x900 on a 1600x1200 screen with a BG res of 2048x2048. It looks fantastic, and never thought to change it.

Didn't notice anything strange (artifacts) setting the background res to 16:9 ratio. You can set whatever value you like in the registry though, no caps except that limited by your hardware. I did it this way because I thought it might be easier on the scaling (using powers of 2, no fractions...etc).

Of course, you might fry your card or monitor if you try to set it to something it can't display. (It will default to some other displayable mode)

I'll try a square when I get back today to see if it improves anything.

    ---------------------
Add: Aliasing seems to be somewhat more noticeable when I use a square on a widescreen display. But my eyes could be playing tricks on me.
