Narrow Stairs

I know there was a thread having to do with the release of Death Cab's single a few months ago, but I couldn't find it after doing a search and looking back several pages so I decided to start a new one rather then try to bump that one. Anyways, their new album, Narrow Stairs, finally hit stores today. Anyone else pick it up yet and if so what did you think?

I had no idea they were releasing a new album. I am pretty dumb when it comes to new music though..

I remember someone posting a link to a new single on YouTube. I didn't like it much though.. I think I'll wait for some replies to this thread before getting their new album.

contrary to a lot of reviews i've seen, i don't think it's their best album (but i also don't think it's a bad album). i've only heard it twice and probably need to let it play more, so much good new music lately though.

I'm not sure I'm ready to call it their best album yet either, but I really like Grapevine Fires, Long Division, and Your New Twin Sized Bed. Need to give the rest of the album some more time, but there is no questioning that it is a great album.

While probably not their best album to date (IMO Transantlanticism was the best)...but honestly "Cath" was one of the best song's they've ever done in my opinion. I absolutely love that song, as well as most songs on Narrow Stairs.

I've had it on my Ipod for a week now, and haven't bothered to listen. I just worried it'll depress the hell out of me, like what Plans did. Still I love Transatlantism, It was one of my senior year of HS soundtracks.

Transatlanticism was definitely their best. I used to listen to it all the time on the train, so I was always all QQ before work >:

All the reviews i've read put it down pretty hard. I've played it on shuffle while playing games and nothings caught my ear like plans or trans did on first listen. I guess with more maybe it will reach that level

I love Cath and Grapevine Fires a lot, it's a good album but definately not better than Transatlanticism, still very enjoyable

I'm not a huge fan of the genre, so I wasn't expecting much. I liked a few songs from their old albums, so I figured I should check it out, but yeah... garbage. The whole thing.

We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes anyone? I still say it's their best album and probably always will be. Narrow Stairs hasn't blown me away much so far. I've only listened through a couple of times but ... It's kind of vanilla.

I like The Photo Album a lot. More my style.

I'll have to check out the new CD regardless. I don't have any expectations for Death Cab, which may be to my advantage.

Unless something has changed in the past few days I believe that they had said a new Postal Service album is very unlikely for the foreseeable future.
