Re: The best thing since sliced bread.

If you ping www.ffxiah.com it goes to 74.52.179.226, but if you go there with your web browser it redirects you to a different ip. Not sure what is going on atm.

lol @ you people judging based on ffxiah profile, which pulls from linkshell community site, which doesn't keep up with what you actually have on at a given time.

I've had it show me in BLM resting gear when I definitely logged out more than 24 hours before (thereby eliminating any chance of missing a reasonable polling cycle) in MNK gear...

They had a notice earlier saying that they were running Server maintenance or changing Servers or some such, probably related to that.

I'm not, you're just looking in the wrong place.

Anyway, the thread was more for lulz and to show the new FFXIAH feature. Maybe Blessed Briault doesn't make you gimp, but the rest of that stuff certainly does!

Also, to play devil's advocate: if you click on the profiles of the people who are wearing the Briault, most of them are in fact gimp. I picked 5 of them at random and all 5 of them were absolutely disgustingly geared.

Porshe on Odin wins the for the Dragoons. He listed all his gear in his profile and even went ahead and listed a gimp sub.

Edit: How often does ffxiah update? I have been on blm for 2 days and it still shows my ninja gear.

No clue. My DRG is 50 now, and the FFXIAH still says 29.

I turn that feature off my profile since it never works or updates properly.

If you're levelling a DD that can equip Haubergeon, and you ding 59 without having one, you're a huge gimp imho. Haubergeon: 240k, noble's 400ishk. Not a big difference, easily made up by DD's being expected to have acc rings, whereas WHM is fine with cheaper mp rings.
Not trying to compare the cost of different jobs, but both haub and noble's are affordable now. And with the affordability comes the price of it becoming an expected piece of gear.
Still think this is kind of a silly idea, especially with briault, it's used often, and the gear on the community site updates slow as molasses.

Is it really affordability if you've learned how to make money better than the first time you leveled a job? leveling both PLD and WHM when I did them I had no clue how to properly farm, it wasn't until around ToAU that I found a steady source of income.

....which died horribly in February, thanks for nothing deflation

Re: The best thing since sliced bread.

A lot of moneymaking ways have been completely stomped into the ground by deflation. Even as little as 400k can be a huge amount to a newbie who's leveling and is excited about getting up there in levels, thus need money for food and other general expenses that come with playing FFXI. I do think melees who is about to hit 59 should try to have a Haub, because it is a sexy, sexy piece or gear, but I try not to judge if they don't - especially if it's their first job to 75. On my current jobs going to 75, I am decently anal about the quality of my gear. My PLD however, as first job to 75, was a big, big, BIG gimp. And that was back when full AF was still awesome, because everyone overhunted on IT++s.

/nod. But some people don't realise they're 'gimp' until they've experienced a bit more of the game.

Unless FFXIAH updates more regularly I'm gonna turn off the community stuff. Yesterday it said my SCH was 25, it's 51 for example. It's weeks out of date.

It's bound to catch me on the way to the dbox guy sending all the non rare ex back to mules with weird kit on :D

Honestly what's the problem with Adaman Cuirass? Adaman Sabatons would be a far better indicator of gimpness. Using the Cuirass over Gallant gives you 5 DEF, 4 MND, 8 MP, and 1 Enmity in exchange for 20 HP and 5 Divine Magic skill. Neither of those sets of stats will make or break anything, unless maybe you're a Taru. Now if you consider Gallant to be gimp as well, then I could understand it, but I've never met anyone who believes that.

Ya, this is sort of iffy, a lot of people just seeing me in town would think I use it a lot, but it definitely does has some uses, even if I had some of the better body slot gear I'm lacking. Shouldn't really be on the list unless its a blatant offender.
