    BLU vs. Elementals

I'm doing Blue Mage duo with a buddy and we've been pretty successful up to Lv32.

Looking over the camp choices for the future, it seems there are lots of SMN beastmen. I imagine these are challenging for BLU, but are they impossible? If we use INT gear and Magic attack trait, would it be possible to kill an elemental pet with Death Ray, Bomb Toss, etc. before things went sour? Or should we skip them and look for other camps?

Was always under the impression that Blue Magic "Magic" was no good until 75 with the proper gear for certain ones (Death Ray, Mind Blast, Breath spells).

Can do worms in the old zones if you both have expansion to save you the headaches.

Just look for other camps, the magic spells are just not damaging or mp efficient enough to make it viable. As a duo you don't need to stick to beastmen pets, just go after things with low defense/hp and non-deadly/annoying tp moves otherwise. Worms are the most obvious choice, but there are plenty of others, like rng, blm, or brd type beastmen, mandys, birds, bats, etc. Skeletons, especially the blm types can also be good exp if you spam bludgeon and other blunt type moves.

There are many new good solo/duo camps in wotg, especially the new worm and colibri camps, but one thing I noticed is the beastmen pets I fought were at full strength, meaning rather than a T goblin's rarab having just a handful of HP, they were just as strong as any T rabbit. I'm not sure if all of the expansion bst mob pets are like this, but just a heads up.

ToAU and beyond - Beastmaster pets are full strength mobs

The mamool drg wyverns definitely aren't, and they would be great solo exp at 75 if they didn't have the same 10 minute cooldowns as player wyverns.

Well if you insist on using beastman's elementals as your targets.. pull them far from other mobs and Poison Breath along with Blast Bomb. As long as they aren't water elementals or Fire elementals you should be good.

    Bring HP gear.

Most elementals should die in 2 volleys of Poison Breaths... but like others said, it might just be better to do Worms or something.

To answer my own question, it went surprisingly well. Duo gives a lot of wiggle room for this sort of thing--I wouldn't try elementals solo but two sets of shadows, head butt, etc. is priceless.

We went to Yhoator outpost at Lv34 and just tried to think like BLMs. We got Cursed Sphere and Death Ray into the 140-160 damage range. Poison Breath was about 110 (both Hume). Smooth sailing up to Lv36.
