Today when I was looking around for info or tips on how to increase my chances of getting a gold moogle belt, I found that the other wiki has people claiming they give 1%/2%/3% crit bonuses, respectively.

I wasn't implying Pahluwan Khazagand to be better than Shura Togi (as much as with 5% crit hits it could be, but I'm not good enough to do the math).Originally Posted by OctavoGilgamesh
Also, I wasn't talking out of personal interest, when I'm on monk I usually equip Kirin's Osode or Shura Togi.
It's just that that, supposing that 1-2% Critical hits is true, this body is a very nice body piece for monk, and better than a Scorpion Harness (unless for some reason you want to solo, but you can get Arakan Samue for that).
I've been on the first line when drama exploded the first days/weeks this body was released and people were claiming the "Increases Critical Hits rate" effect to be broken.
I just don't like people to spread wrong information, especially when they come from competent people and not noobs like me.
Looking around I still see this body to be giving that small crit hits effect.
As I mentioned before, I also remember to have read at least 2 different parses long ago, which definitely made sense.
So, from this point of view, if someone want to say this body's effect is broken/notworking please quote the source, instead of spreading info which might be completely inaccurate. (or am I being too anal today maybe?)
I dont have the sources, but there have been several posts on this over a few forums with parses showing abiguous(and certainly not deterministic) results of increases, no change, and decreased crit hit rate from the peice. The basic premis is that its not noticable or even large enough to stand out from a standard deviation.Originally Posted by Sechs
Which makes it about equal to a SH, which doesnt make you waste 20k AP. Use SH or Osode till you get your Togi. Ive always seen Palu. body wearing mnks as sad attempts to look like they are wearing and end game body, when all it really shows is "look at my 20k AP SH".
Wow can we get back on topic and maybe test some of this shit?
If we spent half as much time working on testing this stuff as you guys are spending debating a well known item we might be able to figure some of this out.
I think an incentive for people to work on finding hidden effects on items might be a good way to motivate everyone. Perhaps an exclusive forum title pertaining to the item you painstakingly researched?Originally Posted by Maxxthepenguin

Hmm wearing Spelunker's Hat while skilling up Guard/parrying skill makes sense to me. Lower acc means mob don't die as fast and lowering your evasion will increase the proc rate of Guard/parrying?
I'd laugh my ass off if the spelunkers hat had a hidden effect of epic proportions when under the effect of something as mundane as flash or blind...
I think they are just in the game just to give you a small edge of obtaining a guard/parry proc over an evasion proc.
Just tested lamia harp. If it does something special, increasing range isn't it.
I'd say Snakeye is suspiciously weak, the other item that hydra drops has a hidden effect too so why not?
EDIT: removed, apparently its fast cast not magic accuracy in Azure experiments.
Another class of possible hiddens -- Race-named items. We already know Galkan Sausage give a race-specific bonus. Some other ones:
Mithran Stone: Rumored to give some sort of Eva/Acc above listed stats for Mithra.
Tarutaru Sash
Hume/Mithra/Tarutaru Fishing Rods
For Pahluwan Khazagand... we know that critical hits are based on tiers, where adding more DEX doesn't do much until you can break a specific tier against certain mobs. Taking that info, has anybody tested whether or not the Pahluwan body lowers the amount of DEX needed to break into each tier?
edit - I would test it myself, but I've been using that area for Salvage permits, obviously.
In that case, it's probably something retarded in which we cannot test reliably/easily, and since it's a Lamia item ...Originally Posted by Stromgarde

Nah, regen gear overall is just pretty underrated, at least in the NA community.Originally Posted by Sifer

If you take SE's hint, this is POS that would be insanely useless. Other Wiki has 0 hidden effects listed. It also only has SAM listed and there are plenty of other things more worthwhile (Spike Necklace) even at 21. It just seems fishy. My SAM is only 40 so I can't test this, but anything immediate should be easy to test.
Yah, the Tiger stole was nice at lvl 21, +5 Attack go go, but lvl 71 is a diffrent story. What were you trying to say? Seriously? is this some stupid attempt to be funny?Originally Posted by Tsukasaz

I think this is a legitimate piece of armor just like the "Gorget" set.Originally Posted by TacoTaru
If you looks at the original armor and abilities given to SAM, they have access to a lot of high DEF gear. Couple that with the fact that they're skillchain openers, can sub WAR, have Third Eye, and you have the ideal SATA-WS partner from the blood tank era. No one would dream of doing it now especially without Seigan, but it's easy to make an argument for that being SE's Zilart-release view of SAM. Honestly, I see a lot of the Zilart jobs being designed to compliment SATAWS. That was probably the reason they gave NIN shadows to start with, or DRG Super Jump.
...and why they made summoners want to melee, all the better to sata them, my dear!
I wish Warrior's stone was Str +5 Acc +7 Crit rate +2% instead of enemy crit -2%, but yeah I don't recall noticing any weird critting leveling low jobs with my silver belt... but picking up a 2% difference is hard.
Also: I <3 Regen gear, I had a snakeeye til I damn near got killed helping a friend skillup in the nest, got repops, so I just start tanking them, then one of them poisons me and that nasty ass 20/hp tic + Str 5 latent kicks in, couldn't figure out what the fuck was going on.
So quick question on the snakeeye: Does it reduce poisons over 20 hp/tic and does the added effect poison kick in when you're not poisoned? How strong is the added effect poison?Originally Posted by Max™
Never had a poison over 20 hp/tic while I had it on, didn't have it for too long due to that nasty little detail.
The added effect poison is just on ranged attacks I thought, but my throwing is waaaaaaayyyy undercapped from the days when cores were tossable, so I don't think I ever actually connected with it the few times I did pull with it. The latent is the Str +5 while poisoned.
