Hi i'm about to upgrade my Laptop XP to XP 64 bits.
I heard tht XP 64 bits is not really stable is that true?
(PS my laptop is strong enough to run it without a problem so i just need to know pros and cons of XP vs 64 bits XP PLZ Pro version)

Unless you want to utilize more than 3 gigs of RAM, there's not much reason to upgrade to 64-bit. Driver support, while much better than in the past, isn't that great especially with wireless adapters. Unless you have a real need to go 64-bit I'd stay away from XP 64.
More and more people seem to be getting on okay with Vista, but if you have a working install of XP and no specific need for Vista, then don't bother.
I can convert your Windows XP into 64 bits for free, I'll go get my sledgehammer.
As stated before and I always tell people this when they ask about 64-bit is if you don't have over 3 gigs of RAM don't bother even if your proc supports it. And even then make sure all of the hardware you have works with it (AKA Do research like looking up drivers for your hardware).
No to x64 XP, no to Vista.
Like everyone has said, only get x64 if you're sure its compatible with your hardware, and you really need more than 3 gigs of ram. I hate those morons who have x64 just because they think its cool, and don't actually have a use for it.
64 bit isn't just good just for accessing more than 4 gigs...

its also good for giving you driver headaches
I wouldn't go with 64bit unless 3-4gb of ram "just isn't cutting it" and you need to step to 8GB+ for whatever reason.
for a home user only one i could think of needing 8gb of ram is a ram drive
32bit Server 2003 > 64bit anything/32bitVista

Double your pleasure, double your.... fun?
Double your iframes and buffer overruns more like.
SSE4, Cache 64, bigger memory limit, new asm registers, NX page protection, 10-15% operation speed gains for native code, etc.
What are the new registers called? ax, eax, ____, _____? I haven't done assembly since the 8088 days.
32 bit on laptops since they are pickier about drivers.
If you have 4GB+ of RAM and a 64bit CPU, there is NO reason not to run 64bit Vista. Unless you want like, old games to work![]()
