Persona 3 FES: The Answer Thread

This game is really hard lol, wanted to have a thread to have discussions about it.

So far if i'm stuck on a boss I just check the spells he uses, revise my party setup, and then level for like 4-5 skill levels and i'm good... but i'm only on the 3rd door, so knowing how The Journey got harder and harder towards the end, this will probably be impossible without a decent strategy.

on the 4th door, floor 8 and 15 you can find summer/winter outfits for all the characters and the comic weapons (clothes on 8, weapons on 15). There are rare chests on those floors, I found that this is a really good and cheap way to get some great weapons and armour for your characters since money is scarce and the shop is fucking expensive as hell.

edit: actually not all the characters, Metis and Koromaru don't have alt outfits.

also, a good way to beat the 3rd door 2nd boss is to use magic mirros and hope you get lucky. if the maya uses virus breath on your party with a magic mirror up it'll pretty much kill itself, if you get lucky 2x the other will kill itself also, but generally you can just beat it down and focus on the dancer, who is weak against panic, so use that.

I assume you can't register your personas in Answer? It makes it real hard to come up with good ones, I just randomly pair them up when i'm near full (the ones i'm not using the most, that is..)

And i'm on the first boss of the 3rd door now, I do really well until they hit Aigis with one of the status ailments and then critical her ass into KO.

Nah, can't register Persona. Which sucks as much as having no slinks to power them up. On the bright side, all Persona learn skills a lot quicker and seem to need less EXP to level up.

and the first boss, hmm I think that was pretty easy for me (I unexpectedly beat it first try). I had Metis, Aigis, Koromaru and Ken I think, Metis and Koromaru assign target on the little ones till they died, I think I had Black Jack equipped with Media, Bufula and Agilao (and some status buffs). I remember the enemies having weaknesses to fire and ice, so Black Jack is perfect for that.

I ended up using Mitsuru/Junpei/Koro to beat it(stupei and koro because of their resistance to fire.. mitsuru for doing more damage with Bufula and Mabufula.)

Also, Aigis just hit 42... hopefully by the time I reach the next stop I won't be TOO underleveled.

Any suggestions for the optimal pt setup for the next boss fight?

I was in the first dungeon and stopped playing cause I lost interest having just done an incredibly long P3 run, and I had a borrowed 360 and had to speed through eternal sonata <.<

I used the same team I did for the last fight (Metis, Ken, Koromaru). Metis and Yukari would be good because they have wind spells, though you'll probably have Yukari on Heal/support (the Mayas are weak against wind), the big boss doesn't have any weaknesses and he blocks/drains/repels a LOT of things, I think it might be random, but when I fought it strikes and fire worked (so Koromaru/Junpei would be good) and have Aigis with something that has fire resistance, strike resistance and poison cures (either item or spell).

You should probably switch out Mitsuru for Metis and either Koro/Junpei for Ken/Yukari.

Remember to have a panic skill on a persona that isn't weak to fire (I had panic but the persona was weak to fire, made my life hell).

Well I used the same group and took care of the two smaller guys, but the lovers shadow is making my life a living hell. I also have 3 poisoned people which I can't cure. Trying to hang on but I doubt i'll make it heh. Mitsuru wont use her damn tentrawhatever too, and I don't have any personas with it.

Yup heat wave'd me 3 times in 3 turns to kill me.

Hell I don't even remember the name of the single target panic attack.

yeah, the lovers fucking sucks. I honestly don't know how to beat it if you can't panic it, the time I beat it I think it took 3-4 turns (of me actually casting the spell, not counting how many times I got knocked down due to fire weakness). Not sure how to get Mitsuru to cast it, usually she does dumb shit like that if she's on Act Freely.

If you can kill the mayas without magic mirrors, then use them on the lovers and it might poison itself.

I can't beat them anymore... I beat them the first time, but then Mitsuru screwed me over with her fire weakness. I switched her out with Metis, and now I can't beat those guys at all.

Guess it's time to grind again (aigis is 42, rest of party is 37), and i'm really not in the mood for it right now.

Just finished The Answer, this game is brutally, brutally hard. Particularly without the compendium... I do love the different number of ways you can tackle the different bosses though, and even though I only switched between two for the final boss, they were both pure concentrated awesome.

The Answer wasn't really that great. They basically took out all the things I loved about Persona 3 and made it into a grind fest. When I played the original, I went to Tartarus maybe 2-3 times a month; so it's a bit taxing having it as the only activity. The challenge is nice and all, but it's annoying without the compendium. Basically, it just feels like Tartarus grinding with imposed restrictions (hi2u CoP). I will someday finish it though, just so I can know the story.

I'm working up for the optional uber hardcore final boss, working on my persona setup that I'll need. It's nearly impossible to win if you don't know exactly which Persona you'll need and even then you have to do it this right. if you thought the main bosses were annoying then Holy Shit...spoilers incoming...

Alone vs Elizabeth, you have to complete most of her requests to get the option, but even then...you need 8ish of the super-powerful Persona with specific abilities taught to them, plus Big Bang of course, and if she ever drops below 10k HP (she has a lot, anti-Big Bangish thing), then she auto-heals back up above 10k. Plus, if you knock her below I believe 5k, she's allowed to spam healing as much as she likes THEN counterattack. I'm trying to do both this and get the Key item needed to create that special Ultimate Persona (to get the Key item you have to max out all Social Links in I believe one walkthrough). I don't know if I have it in me tbh...

The forums aren't that bad, if you want quick answers and aren't a total retard about it you'll get it. If you can't find it in a faq or through a search on that boards forums then asking is hardly the worst thing you could do.

Yeah that's all I use that website for, but they have no FAQs up for The Answer.

The Answer definitely has FAQs. I used one to clear it long before the English version came out. The boss names will probably be off, but aside from that it's fine. It would be wise to note that "The Answer" is called "Episode Aigis" in the Japanese version.

Finally beat FES.. it was nice getting all the missed parts filled in. Final boss was a pushover, even with a 73/67/65/60 party.
