It happens, I remember Byakko taking me from right at full HP to literally 1HP in the span of about 4 seconds, Elvaan PLD/NIN with 8HP merits, and I've tanked Byakko FAR too many times to still not have a Hadiate.Originally Posted by BrillCS

Since we usually build TP before engaging in Sky, that sounds handy. Thanks for the tip.Originally Posted by Aragon of Odin

Here's what I basically think sums up a general Byakko fight:
-Minimum of 2 /NIN tanks. I've always favored PLD/NIN, RDM/NIN, NIN/DRK or even WAR/NIN if the rest are unavailable
-A couple of melee/thf (Especially SAM/THF) to alternate hate between tanks. Obviously both tanks should be positioned on alternate sides of Byakko.
-Minimum of 1 WHM I believe is necessary, if the WHM has fast reaction skills. More if they lack this particular player trait. These are WHMs that I am talking about that know when to use Flash at the right time, have their finger on the Paralyna macro once they see Byakko preparing a JA followed by the Roar animation - they Paralyna one of the tanks IMMEDIATELY without waiting to see who is paralyzed.
Paralyna order goes from Tanks -> Melees
-Realistically saying, you want BLM and /DRKs to be stunning every other time it's up. Especially during a roar or amidst a Claw Cyclone/Razor fang. At minimum I wouldn't be attempting Byakko without -at least- 3 professional stunners who know how to work in sync with each other. It's doable with less, but I prefer to have guaranteed wins. You can also try random job combos to contribute to the fray. Such being said as WHM/DRK, BRD/DRK, RDM/DRK, etc... You'd want two Paralyna's available at all times from either WHM or RDM/WHM.
-Enough damage to keep the fight reasonably quick. You can drag out the fight with the "low man power" in you, but I prefer to kill it quickly and be done with it. I like to have over 2 BLMs minimum on any Sky god, just because of the insta-damage available for these quick fights.
-Seiryu is good training for all your members. If you feel that Byakko is causing grief or the tanks/mages need more experience, try working on Seiryu for awhile until you're sure you have it down. Seiryu triggers are much easier to obtain due to less difficulty (Steam Cleaner RDM solos aside) in obtaining them. Because although Seiryu is one step under Byakko, they are almost similar in the ways people need to cover another.
-Finally, to be able to keep the morale going after the drops. Unimaginable things happen when it doesn't drop or another member gets it in place of another. You have to be able to sustain to keep the group going.
