Ive been a die-hard ridill merit participant forever. pretty much all the best gear
e body, speed belt, dusk+1, toredor, brutal, suppa. etc. full hecatomb blah blah blah
8/8sword 6/8axe 5/5 bergressor 3/3wc
Never had anyone touch me on a parser until recently with the boom of /SAM
The difference maker is the Hasso. I can beat /SAM running Seigan, which is usually necessary for MP purposes, but if you have a PL and can afford running Hasso, look out.
I recently got beat by a decked DRG/SAM by 1%, then if you add the 4% of the wyvrern it was pretty considerable. Also got beat by 4% by a SAM/WAR running Hasso fulltime using polearm, he has 8/8 polearm all the decked gear and capped merits.
The DRG parse was at a LOLTroll camp but the #s held consistent at birds as well. The sam was obviously @ bird camp.
I could post 100s of parses of blowing away decked melee but the /SAM with hasso just make them insanely strong.
I'm no WAR (but i hope to be in in the next few months) but wouldn't you say that the reason ridill WAR excel over say a GAXE war is because most of the time when someone gets a ridll they really adjust their setup to help that dual wield do more. They adjust their merits accordingly to the ridill, when most of the time GAXE wars don't really put their all into the GAXE (8/8 combat merits, proper tier 1 merits etc). That would make a big difference. Of course theres the WARs that do this, but in most of my experience with WARs, they usually put maybe a few merits into gaxe, maybe a few into axe.
Yeah, in most cases if a WAR gets a Ridill they're in an HNM LS and have at least decent gear to compliment it, or often getting it will motivate them to put more time into gear/merits. Every other average and below average WAR without Rid will often go with GA. Most people don't have many merits at all, much less capped WAR/combat/primary merits. So your average GA WAR is going to be on a far lower level than your average Rid WAR.
But, my point from the earlier posts was that fully decked out with merits in gear, I find that a Rid WAR vs a GA WAR is pretty one-sided, especially if Hasso is involved.
What are the ideal merits for a Great Axe WAR?
I've read Bergressor 3, DA 4.
I've also read Berserk 5, DA 5.
Berserk 5, DA 5
With 0 merits I am 95% on Birds and probably 90% elsewhere, with 8 merits I'd be 95% anywhere so no need for Aggressor really.
I did 3 bergressor 4 DA, but I like to use polearm in the mire or colibri.
