Salvage MNKs: Asuran or Howling?

So my other MNKs were worried about feeding bosses too much TP. We usually have 2 MNKs on bosses. Then this came up; both think howling fist is better in the long run because it won't gives bosses too much TP. I tried it, and I found damage on it to be pretty lower compared to asuran (200 lower on average). And honestly... I couldn't tell the difference.

So what are other MNK's opinion on this? My LS usually has a BRD, but no COR. Most damage is being done by 2 MNKs.

Using Howling instead of Assuran for the reason of TP given is a brainfart. Keep using Assuran & make both MNKs get Penance L3 if they havent.

Agreed, I don't see the reasoning to drop 200-250 dmg on a WS. the COR in the set up might help more than than the changing of WS's. Both MNK's should have Penance lvld and u might wanna see if anybody else in ur set has MNK to toss it out there.. my old set had 3 mnks and would alternate the tanking on the runs, all 3 had penance done, so it would help somewhat.

Well, guess that explains why I saw no difference then. Ironically, these 2 guys also DON'T have penance, which was why they wanted to make me use HF along with them. Thanks all.

I personally only have penance lv 2. I solo and ballista a lot so I find lv 3 invig to be better for me. (and lv 1 formless just to have it when needed).

To the subject though, use whichever does more dmg for you (If ur acc isn't very well, then this would probably be howling in this case), the TP is the same, as Aurik stated.
