Not to mention Jimmy Rollins finally getting off the schnide and going 3-4 with a homer and 3 RBI.

Bartolo Colon's 2 at-bats were the most entertaining thing I've seen all season.
He would've been better off just standing there really, rofl.Originally Posted by Viq

hahaha thats great
Burrell and Howard each hitting a triple was about as unlinkely as Colon getting a base hit tonight. You can tell Utley is getting a bit anxious at the plate when he tries to bunt his way on (like the second time this week he's tried that). But his slump won't last too long.
What amazes me is how Ryan Howard can be batting south of .220 and still manage to be tied for 2nd in the league in HR and tied for 1st in RBI.
He's completely hit or miss really. I think he has 98 strike outs already this year, which is insane considering its not even the halfway point in the season yet. Not taking anything away from him, he's a great hitter when he makes contact, but he is almost completely hit or miss.Originally Posted by Trichocyst

Also big story in NY today is that the Mets decided to fire Willie Randolph at 3AM last night after they won the opening game in LA and 3 of their last 4. What a disgrace, lol
Omar Minaya is pretty two-faced lol. Just heard on ESPN that it was his decision and after their first game against the rangers he said that Wille had his support. But oh well, as a met fan they need to make some changes dunno if a 3am firing is the kind of change i'd have predicted though.
Yeah, I'm sure they'll find someone better.

And wouldnt you know it, the day we mention it... he strikes out 4 times. 102 on the season now...Originally Posted by Trichocyst

Yeah, ESPN pointed out how the last 8 or so games he's either getting like 4 RBI a game or 4K a game. All or nothing. Utley is gonna get a day or two off soon. He's 0 for his last 18.
It's been a busy week for a few of the top contenders during interleague. Red Sox took 2 of 3 in Philly despite being banged up. Rays swept the Cubs. White Sox and Cubs go at it this weekend starting in about an hour and a half. If the White Sox can take a couple of those games in Wrigley then you've got to start questioning whether the Cubs are really as good as their record indicates.
In other news, Curt Schilling all but announced his retirement this morning on WEEI. While it was fairly obvious that it was going to happen sooner or later, it's tough to see one of the last true workhorses have to leave the game this way. I'm sure people will, if they haven't already, talk about his Hall of Fame eligibility. I wouldn't be surprised if he makes it in based upon his incredible success in the postseason, winning a few rings with a couple different teams while maintaining one of the highest postseason winning percentages in the history of the game.
Yanks swept some bad teams in the last week for 7 in a row, no real tests from these teams but they've been getting the job done.
I don't doubt Schilling will get in the Hall of Fame eventually, but he does have a big mouth and I know some people don't like that. He's gotten flack from his comments on his blog about Kobe, and remember the guys who vote people into the Hall of Fame are sportswriters.. if you act like a douche and write crap about people, you're not going to win points with them. I just hope he learns not to go so far where people ignore his stats, which are great.
Cards beat the red sox today. I still can't understand how the cards are still winning when they are missing: Pujols, Wainright, Mulder, Carpenter+ some bullpen guys. I have this little bitty feeling starting to build that they could win the NL central.
Homer, I'll tell you what I told Redford: It ain't gonna happen.Originally Posted by Doombard

What a bunch of nonsense. The difference with this Cubs team is that they imported a decent RF and they've got Marquis and Dempster pitching way the hell above their talent level.Originally Posted by Rhinox
