Mike Timlin came off the DL today for the Sox @ Yankees series. Steve Buckley's weird Timlin stat was that if the Sox win the World Series this year, Mike Timlin would tie Stuffy McInnis as the only players in MLB history to have 5+ rings without ever playing for the Yankees. What Buckley missed is that McInnis played in 5 WS, but only won 4 rings. The Athletics lost the 1914 WS.

Stuffy McInnis, for those that don't know, held the record for consecutive games and chances without an error at 1B until this year. Also for those that don't know, Stuffy got his nickname because of his sure-handed defense. When he would make a defensive play at first, the fans would yell, "That's the stuff!" and thus the name Stuffy was born. I'm sure no one found this interesting lol

Did any of you watch the game live or see highlites from the Marlins and Rockies game? Holy shit man, when I saw the score update on Sportscenter I had to do a double take to make sure they were still scrolling baseball scores on the bottom.

American League: First off, lemme say.. I think Pedroia has earned a spot for sure. Kinsler is a tight second, if not the better of the two, but due to Pedroia's ridiculous hot streak he's got going, he's earned the spot for sure.

Lemme go down and say who I don't think belongs.

Varitek. LOL. Other than some of the reserves who should be starting.. it's fine with me.

National League: Starters are okay for the most part, but...

Fukudome (He's bad on the road, and only has a good batting average really.. though he takes a lot of pitches.)

Soriano making it is okay, but making it as a starter.. I don't think so. I'd like McLouth or Burrell (WHO DIDN'T EVEN MAKE THE FUCKING TEAM) more.
Put Braun, McLouth, and Burrell out there instead of Fukudome/Soriano/Braun.

Griffey off of the ballot.. seems right, even though I saw the lifetime achievement being an alright thing. People have spoken about that I guess.

McCann should've gotten the start over Soto, but Chicago has a ton of fans, so not much you can do about that.

Pitching wise... why do we have so many closers on both teams? I liked the way Jair Jurrjens has pitched this year, coming in from being expected to be a 3-4 starter, to being a solid #2 (behind Hudson, who was going to be the 2) for the Braves. D: Oh well. Guess Chipper will be the only Hotlanta representative.

Ah well, can't get it all right, but leaving Pat Burrell off... that's a travesty.

I agree with what you said for the most part but

Just curious as to why you went from Soto and Mccann being interchangeable a week ago to Mccann Deserving the starting spot over soto. what did it for you was it the .007 better average that did it for you? Was it that whopping 1 more homerun 3 less rbi's and 5 more runs scored?

it wouldnt have mattered to me either way whoever started just wondering what changed your mind.

If I'm not mistaken, Clint Hurdle (sp?) didn't pick Joe Torre to be part of his all-star staff. That's as bad as Burrell not making it, and Varitek making it.

Because I just feel McCann is more important for his team than Soto is for his. I mean sure, both are awesome catchers, but when Mack isn't in the Braves lineup, they are almost as bad as they are without Chipper. I suppose the numbers are close enough for it not to matter though.

Do you always have to come to the aid of a Cubs player or start arguments with me, by the way? Where do they usually end anyway?

Because when I come in aid or point out something that favorable to my hometown team I'm called a homer (which i wont deny). When you do it its ok? sounds like bullshit to me. anyway not gonna get into this argument with you because its pointless Soto is the NL starting C. Fact of the matter is Mccann and the braves are not having a better year then Soto and the cubs so the players relation to the success of the team when it comes to determining who starts logic is insane. Now if you want to argue that Mccann is the MVP of the braves I wont argue with you but to try to pass that off as a benefit as to why he should start? that isnt gonna fly. And if you wanna go by individual achievements this season they are almost virtually identical. which goes to my Original point Whoever started would be fine with me which was the same argument you had but you changed.

Ah well, can't get it all right, but leaving Pat Burrell off... that's a travesty.
He wont be he gonna be the fans choice for the last spot. I'm pretty sure about that.

Brewers tied for the Wild Card after today. You think they can take it, or will the Cards or Marlins fight back? (Or will the Brewers just win the NL Central - only 3.5 back on the Cubs now)

ok clint hurdle has to be on fucking crack. I'm a giants fan and I still can't figure out how Wilson made the all star team with that ERA. Bengie I feel got hosed as well being on the Giants. His numbers would be so much better and be more recognized on a better team. Well here's to hoping for a Druchesier(sp)/Lincecum starting pitchers for the allstar team.

If they want to keep having the winner of the all-star game have home field advantage in the world series they need to change this joke of a system.

Torre said he wouldn't have accepted the invite. I don't care, the whole game would have been overshadowed with "Torre returns to teh Bronx!!!" comments from the queers at FOX and ESPN.

Anyhow, best picture I've ever seen: (huge)

Good deal for the Cubs... 2 pitchers and while I don't quite understand why the A's took those prospects it may turn out to be a good deal for both teams.

I guess the real question is if Harden can stay healthy. A few articles I've read on him say he's lost some velocity on his pitches and seems injury prone.

He is injury prone. The 11 starts in a row he's made is the most he's made in a long while. He's been on the DL once this year already for a month, and made one start last year before going out for the year. With the way the Cubs are with injury prone pitchers (Prior and Wood, I'm looking at you), this will definitely be a careful operation.
