As stated, if Papelbum just kept his mouth shut, nothing would have happened. He CLEARLY thinks he should close, said it, realized it would get him in trouble, and tried to take back his words. Sorry that Yankee fans are better than (apparently) most of you at reading between the lines. He took a shot at Mariano and the Yankees, and paid for it. Oh yeah, and he blew the game too.

EDIT: And the people who think history doesn't matter, just stop watching now. Like right now. The entire game is about history and records. Home run records, championships, no-hitters, averages, hitting titles, all these things are based on RECORDS and PAST EVENTS.

Along with that, the Yankees are the most successful team in all of sports, and although Red Sox fans would like you to believe 2 wins makes up for 86 years of failure, they've turned into the very Yankee fans they used to hate. As for the team itself, the Red Sox are clearly the better team the last few years (not 2006 when the sox didnt even make the playoffs, or 2003 when the Yanks beat boston to get to the WS. Yanks haven't exactly "sucked" since 01 by any standards) but baseball goes in cycles like that. The Yankees and Red Sox won't win it every year, nor will they always be out of it.
