Goodbye Tim Hudson, /welcome Tommy John. Seriously, the braves have what, 1 starter from the begining of the season left on their roster?

I wish somehow that Tex would ignore the money, cause it seems like he genuinely likes Atlanta, but I know in my heart he's gone already.

I can see him going to maybe Arizona right now. He's 99.99999% gone though for sure. Hudson going to see "that" doctor.. so he's done. Chipper's out, and might as well just stay out for now I'd think. McCann is shaken up, Smoltz gone, Glavine out for a bit, and will probably retire after this year. Yeah, Braves are in the dumps right now. Went from division favorite in some eyes, to 4th place if they are lucky.

LA Angels of Anaheim send Casey Kotchman (1B) and a pitching prospect to the Atlanta Braves for Mark Teixeira.

I never count out the Braves getting something out of an underachieving player, but is Kotchman really all they could get for Teixeira? I'd probably rather have compensation picks if no real offers developed.

Well Kotchman is a fairly young guy who could get somewhat better over time. He won't be a Teixeira, but it's better imo than a draft pick. Either way, getting Teixeira last year/losing him this year is a HUGE loss for the Braves considering who they gave up to get him. (Saltalamachia being one of those guys that was a huge loss)

And yeah. Hudson going to see the Tommy John's surgery guy, so that's not good.

So who do you like in the NL West at this point in the season? I hope my Rockies can muster out another comeback lol. They've been playing really well lately so there is always hope.

I don't know. The D-Backs are so streaky when it comes to hitting. Tonight they had to deal with Chris Young's first start back and he was dealing a lot of the game. Hat is off to him recovering from that broken nose he got earlier in the season.

The Dodgers have problems scoring too, and have to completely depend on their pitching. I know they are in the market for a SS. They need to get one quick.

Rockies though have offense as it's finally come around, and it looks like they are keeping Holliday/Fuentes, so I think they do have a chance. Heck, you can finish below .500 and win that division, so I actually like... the Dodgers somewhat.

Its gonna be sad when 3 teams from the NL East and 3 teams from the NL Central finish with a better record than the best team in the NL West. Shouldn't make the playoffs if you have the 7th best record in your league.

Agreed. If I had it my way, the West wouldn't have a playoff team at all, lol. I don't know why they are always so bad. The D-backs are lucky that they play in division a lot.

Buster Olney is reporting that the Yankees acquired Ivan Rodriguez from the Tigers.

EDIT: Seems the Yankees sent Kyle Farnsworth to Detroit. I'm not sure the Yanks got the better end of this one.

I love pudge but his power numbers are not there this year and Inge has been doing most of the catching for Detroit this year. Farnsy has been terrible at times but I hate the idea of giving up a 98-mph throwing reliever for a catcher in the back end of his career. But, I can see why Cashman did it. With Marte here and Bruney on the way back, they could afford to let a guy go. Oh well, we'll see how it turns up. The Yankee lineup just got a whole lot sicker again... If Matsui comes back this year, the lineup could be:

If you get Matsui back in that DH role, one of those guys you listed wouldn't be able to play. >.> I doubt with his knee, they'd really want him out in the field, and I expect your OF to be Nady, Cabrera, and Abreu. No way you'd want to put Damon in CF with his crappy throwing arm.

Stick the Melkman on the bench, put Nady in CF and Damon in LF. El Como Dulce obviously stays in RF. At least, that's the solution offered up by John Sterling during today's game while talking about possible OF configurations for the last 2 months.

We only got 6 hits today...and 2 were by our pitcher Manny Parra - double and a triple. Our pitchers can swing the bats. Too bad we're 4 games out of 1st now /sigh

So uh... wow. Big trade possibly in the workds. Three way trade between the Red Sox, Marlins, and Pirates that includes Jason Bay going to Boston to replace Manny, Manny coming over to Florida to replace Hermeida, and Hermeida going to the Pirates to replace Bay. Also includes possibly Jack Wilson (SS, PIT), a couple relievers, and what not. Good god, if this goes down... the Marlins are gonna be scary.
