If the Rays keep playing like this I take back all the nice things I said about them winning. I'd rather have the Angels represent the AL-at least they wanted it (maybe too much, which is why they collapsed in the ALDS)-or of course, a beat up Sox team without Lowell, Ortiz (certainly wasn't himself), the AL steals leader (for pulling an '07 Coco Crisp), and with a gimpy Beckett, heart-attack inducing Dice-K, remote-throwing inducing Timlin, 1-ALCS Varitek, and 157,005 LOB Kotsay. At least they goddamn wanted it.
Seriously, how does a middle of the order that Sox fans were literally Petrified of go 0 for the World Series? B.J. Fucking Upton, I swear to god. Bucky Dent, Arron Boone, and now B.J. Upton.
On a different note, good for Hinske. I'd say it's a sign, the guy hits a world-series pinch-hit homer in 2 series in a row, but unless the Rays were taking notes last week on how to come back from 3-1 down, they are toast.
All the Rays' hitters dropped into a slump the week of the fucking World Series, I just don't understand it. It was a fucking homerun derby in Boston that one night, and now the Series is up and they can't hit a base fucking hit to save their lives. So frustrating to watch.
you also have to give credit to the phils pitching. they are shutting them down
hamels + madson + lidge = lightsout!
I sort of wish Phillies will steal Upton from the Rays next season, then it will become a powerhouse and a regular world series contender.
I do give credit to the Phillies pitching staff. But it is not just them. As anyone who cringed during games 2-5 of the ALCS can tell you, the Rays hitters are slumping hard right now. And as everyone in the sports world can tell you, a hot Ryan Howard + good Phils pitching plus poor Rays hitting = game over.
Should the Phillies win tonight, have there been any announced plans of a parade? I'm up at Rutgers right now, but I'm so skipping my classes if necessary to head into the city.
I found this online today: http://google.com/trends/hottrends?q...008-10-27&sa=X
It's the fourth-most looked item on Google today, rofl.
What an atrociously umpired game yet again. The strike zone is all over the place, they let Cole sit out there for 20 minutes while they worked on the field, thus letting the Rays tie it up. Of course they wait till conditions are so bad that Cole can't even hold on to the ball and the Rays get a gift run before they delay it.
Fucking terrible, MLB should be ashamed.
I'm rooting for the Phils, but jesus christ this is one of the worst strike zones I've ever seen. The strikeout to Aki was fucking hysterically bad.
Quick! Someone bring up a lot of irrelevant stats on games won by home teams up 3-1 during a rain delay!
Fuck baseball...
Wow that field was horrifyingly bad, I can't believe they let them continue to play on that shit, though I am glad to see the Rays tie it so they can't just say, "You know what? Fuck it. Series over." And while the Phillies would have deserved it for having been leading, I would have felt robbed.
Looking at the forecast though, it's hard to say when we're going to see more baseball.
The weather was so bad, the umpires can't tell a strike from a ball, they should have called it before the equalizer. and what's the deal with Phillies keeps letting Upton roam free on the bases?
Not just the Phillies, Upton just steals bases.
I agree they should have called it before the tie, but I can see how they might have just called it finished at any point, shouting "legal game!" and not giving the Rays a chance to come back. Which would have been their prerogative, but still a disappointing way for the Rays to lose it especially because they're a team that always seems to show up late. The field looks like shit though, see no end to this delay in sight. :/
I certainly would not have wanted to win on a called game, with a 2-1 lead. However, making Cole go out and pitch half the inning, and then suspend the game? Thats fucked up. If the phillies had to pitch in that inning, so should the Rays. If not, they should have started the game at the top of the 6th, 2-1 Phils. Thats bullshit their pitchers gets a fresh mound to work on.
I agree I don't want to win the World Series in a rain shortened game, so I have no problem with suspending it. I do however have a problem with when they suspended it. They let the Rays get an extra at-bat in damn near unpitchable and unfieldable conditions, which led to them tying the game, and knocked the best pitcher in the world right now out of the game well before he was done. Longorias single never would have gotten through in normal conditions, and Upton would have been out by 10 feet at home had the infield not been a big puddle that damn near stopped the ball dead in its tracks.
They should have suspended it after 5 innings, plain and simple. The Rays got a huge HUGE reprieve by what happened last night. I'm just hoping that the game gets delayed till tomorrow so we have Cole ready for game 7 if it gets that far.
just looked at the weather map, and it seems it will clear up later tonight if not sooner. I wonder who's pitching for the phillies.
It's snowing right now, lol.
Fucking Pennsylvania, lol ... that's why I fucking moved to Florida.
A little tidbit I found, and completely unrelated to the WS, but wiki Josh Beckett, and look above his picture on the page >________>
