Yeah. That and of course the whole throwing snow balls at Santa. Everyone knows how awful the Philly fans are. They're on your backs and down your throat when you suck, then cheer you like the best ever when you do decently. Notice how positive of a reception Rollins got, even though they boo'd the fuck out of him early on. That was of course after he called the fans "Front running fans", which come on.. we all know they are, lol. Still, cursing at a 1 year old, and tossing shit at someone's granddaughter? Give me a break.
My toes are bleeding from walking so much in a poor choice of shoes. They're not very functional.
Also Philadelphia media does report the bad behavior of Philadelphia fans.
Rollins got booed because he was playing like shit and not hustling, not because he called the fans front runners. He even admitted later the comment was out of line and that he deserved it.
Philly fans are a lot of things, but they are definitely NOT front runners. They've sold out almost every Eagles/Sixers/Flyers games for decades, and ever since CBP opened they've sold out almost every game there. Hell even Soul, Kixx, Wings, and Phantoms games routinely sell out. So many cities lack passion for their teams and think because we don't blindly cheer all the time we are bad fans.
When you are playing hard and winning we cheer harder than anyone else. When you are dogging it and losing we call you out on it. That's what real passion is.
Also, you Philly fans who say "Oh god, it's been a quarter century since a team of ours won a championship, wah wah".. ugh. Gimme a break. :/ At least your teams have actually been good for those years. There's some cities out there with teams that have been just putrid.
All people who say Philadelphia fans are out of line celebrating just don't understand. You just don't unless you live here. Seriously, critiques are all you have after we won a championship waiting 25 long years? How bitter can you get?
I'm not really sure what to say but people flipping cars and acting a fool over a championship is new to me, never seen anything like that.
I sympathize with a streak of futility. Philadelphia teams have all have disastrous runs of failure. Take out the '93 seasons at the Phillies were poor to mediocre from 83 to 08. Without getting into longer history, there's a good reason the Phillies have been associated with losing.
I can sympathize with Cleveland fans and Seattle fans. Remember how bad the Eagles were before Donovan McNabb? See how many times he came close to bringing a championship home? Same goes for guys like Allen Iverson and Eric Lindross. We had great players, but not winning teams for all of my life. I can sympathize with not bringing home a world series with a 116 win season or Ken Griffey Jr. in his prime. I can sympathize with losing the world series to an expansion team that's just a few seasons old even when you have Jim Thome and Manny Ramirez in their prime.
And until this season we were right there. While I sympathize, I'm overjoyed to shake it off. Philadelphia fans are brutal and passionate. Most of them prioritize their teams to an unhealthy degree. That's what makes this championship so special. Whether or not people think we're ill mannered or vicious or horrible people, we live and die with our favorite teams.
Did you see the riots after the Celtics won? This isn't something new.
I live and die for my tarheels and cowboys but I dont flip cars when we win championships. Although lots of cursing and being pissed for weeks always ensues.
Edit: No I didnt watch them, I was happy to see the big three get their title but when the sox won in 04, I dont recall seeing such things.
I've always thought that, but never had a reason to come out and say it until after they won their championship mainly because now fans are calling these sports talk radio shows (The Herd for one) and talking about "Oh, I've gone more than half my life without a Philly team winning a championship" etc, and talking about how tough Philly teams have it. At least Philly teams have had SOME success and haven't been the bottom of a division every single year.
I'm not bitter at all. I said congrats to the Phillies for winning this year. I just don't think you have a lot to gripe about when it comes to your team not winning, when the Flyers, 76ers, and Eagles have all actually been relevant unlike a lot of other cities. :/
apparently you didn't see Montreal Canadien fans flipping cars and lighting shit on fire after they won the first round last year. A 7 game series with Boston. That is out of line. after the first round..... pathetic. this city won a championship. who gives a shit how they celebrate. anyone who knocks on it is a hater
and tbh, Akiyama, it doesn't matter how much success you have until you actually win something. for the past 25 years, we dont hear how we've competed with the league. all we hear is whether we won or not.
