Pretty sure athletes do it a lot. You see a ton of blogs out there now adays as they sort of get with the times.

What do you think of a possible Furcal signing? Haven't seen anything new regarding any trades involving Escobar, so just wondering if you've heard something.
Uh...what Furcal signing? Last I heard, he was probably heading to the A's o.o;
I heard this morning on the radio that Furcal turned down the A's in favor of the Braves.
No. Keep Furcal on the West Coast, please. I hadn't heard anything just yet, but seriously? Seriously, Atlanta. We need a REAL stud pitcher, not to mention a power-hitting outfielder, but you want to go after an injury prone Shortstop to fill a position that we actually have a decent talent at? God damn. The heads up in Atlanta are fucking stupid. I swear. If they go after Furcal and spend too much instead of spending it on Peavy, I'm gonna be peeved. (See what I did there?)
I'm a Braves fan myself. I'm for the Braves more than I am any team professionally or college wise, so I'd hate to see this move done. D:
Fox is reporting it now too. Looks like Furcal got a 3-year deal from Atlanta with a club option for a fourth year. No word on dollars yet, but the A's deal that he turned down was for $40mil over four years, so it's most likely at least comperable to that amount.
Yeah. Watching SC/tracking Fox Sports News right now. Uuuugh. What I'm hoping is this deal is actuall for less money because he just wants to come back to Atlanta? That and he's giving his old team a "home town" discount? I just hope they aren't paying him over that 40mil that the A's are offering him. That's nuts based on his health.
10mil a year for a shortstop who had 3 errors in one game in the NLCS?
its like picking Dan Uggla for the all-star game again
Well to defend Furcal, I do think he's a way better fielder than that NLCS showed, lol. I'm gonna harp on this deal all day though. God damn the Braves are stupid.
im sure he is better than that. sadly, thats all i know him from :/
Phils resigned Moyer 2yr/15mil guaranteed
Escobar or Furcal play 2B, move KJ to left field and that solves some issues. Only problem is now pitching, and I think Escobar was one of the big trades for Peavy.
AJ Burnett's signing clearly shows the Yankees are trying to keep pace with the Red Sox. Now they have their own JD Drew contract.
Damn, I was hoping the Mariners would re-sign him, as he lives in the Seattle area and was there for 10 years. He and his wife are very active in Seattle charities. Now that he's got a World Series ring, I thought it would make sense for him to return to Seattle to retire. Maybe next contract.
I had this pipe dream of them signing Moyer, Randy Johnson and Ken Griffey Jr (all of whom were free agents). After all, if you're going to have a crappy team that loses 99 games, we might as well have a crappy team full of guys you can root for. Moyer and Johnson are actually still serviceable, and Griffey's still better than half the stiffs on their bench.
So if Moyer plays four more years and wins his 300th game the same year he turns 50, does he make the Hall of Fame?
Kelly Johnson is too streaky. He's too hot and cold. When he's hot, he's on. When he's cold, he doesn't know what a baseball looks like. That and he's not exactly a "Power outfielder" either. That doesn't solve a problem. It just pushes it on the backburner.
Pitching was our big need this offseason and we addressed it by getting Vazquez? The White Sox are thanking us for taking him off the payroll.
Aki I do agree with you, but like pen said, escobar can play second at well, he played second for a while in the minor's. Johnson as well is very versatile, but I do agree, I'd rather have peavy instead, beccause pitching hurt us alot last year.
300 wins is pretty much the hall of fame benchmark. It's a stretch, but maybe. He's such an easy guy to root for. I'd love to think he could make it to the hall.
I hate the stupid idea of 300 wins means you're a lock for the hall of fame. Wins are a terrible metric to judge pitchers by. Why? You know why. You can pitch terribly and get a win because your team score 12 runs in the first inning, or get a loss because your closer walks 3 guys and gives up a grand slam. It's a team stat that somehow turned into an individual accomplishment, and it's the worst way to judge pitchers. Take WHIP. Or Ks/9 innings. Or OPS against. ANYTHING except wins!
