The stereotypical yankee bashing is the most juvenile thing in baseball.
The stereotypical yankee bashing is the most juvenile thing in baseball.
Most Red Sox and Yankee fans knew that the Rays were going to be good long before the mainstream media did. Hey, if you get enough #1 draft picks in a row (like, a decade), and you have a good front office (which they do) you're eventually going to turn things around. New York fans are pretty well informed. Unlike fans from say... Chicago.
And FYI for the mathematically challenged, the Yankees could sign Andy Pettite for 16 million and still be below a $200 million payroll. So can it with the stupid payroll arguments. The Yankees make more money than any other organization.... what are they supposed to do with it? Sit on it? Invest in pools to hold the tears of bawwwwing Chicago fans? No, they're supposed to put it back into the team. Which they are.
I still think there should be a minimum/maximum cap in baseball to be quite honest. Ah well. Can't have everything.
Blame Bud Selig for letting the MLB Player's Association amass so much influence and power. For something like that to pass, it would need to get approved. In these economic conditions, that's never happening.
Yep. No kidding. I guess it's just another problem the MLB has, and why it won't be nearly as popular as it once was.
What are you basis for saying this? Seems to me you're doing the crying because someone had something you thought was bad about the yankee's.
Dry out your vag.
Oh btw Chicago fans are more well informed then New York fans. Its in the same study that you based your opinion on if you want to check out my sources.
Oh please. Come on guys. Let's keep the "Our fans are better than yours", and "Our team is better"...etc.. out of the topic for a page or two, lol. The Yankees have cash, so they spend it. It's nice to know that outside of Hughes and Kennedy(sp), they've pretty much abandoned their farm system.
1) Learn English
2) I was replying to a posts about the Yankee payroll and to an apparently bitter Chicago fan. I was joking on the Chicago part, clearly. Everything else was fact...
The Yankees haven't abandoned their farm system, either. All these signings didn't require any trades. They still have Austin Jackson, their number 1 CF prospect, and Alan Horne, a high pitching prospect.
That's all you got? Critiquing my grammar? Lame comeback is lame.
So... who's Joe Mauer going to after the 2010 season?
Yankees obviously
Clearly I choose to ignore the second part because I really don't care what you were responding too. Just Wanted point out how retarded your "joke" actually was and when I did your only comeback was lrn engrish. That's really something someone says when they have zero retort in high school.
Congratulations, you win!
(Ohnoes someone made fun of my team I must defend their honor and insult them back using unfunny generalizations! Whaaaaaaaaaaah!)
Yes, why should I defend my baseball team in a thread about baseball. I'm glad you're here to moderate these threads.
Indeed because clearly that was my intention from the very beginning
jesus christ, this is like fucking barrens chat all over again. Kids grow up before someone makes you sit on seperate corners of the interweb.
So..now that Tex and C.C. are out of the way...
...where's Ben Sheets going to end up? Or do we have to wait for the end of the Manny Saga to end virst?
Who knows. People are scared to pick up Sheets to begin with.
Also, it's nice to see White Sox/Yankees fans arguing with each other. Take it to PM's or something though, because QUITE FRANKLY, I LOVE MY CHEESE DOODLES.
Wait. That's Stephen A. Smith. I'm just sick of watching people argue over complete shit.
I'm a die hard Yankee fan, but Holy Fuck! is the phrase that came out of my mouth while reading the ESPN ticker
Yankees are being built like a fucking Fantasy BaseBall team (all-star = lol)
What confuses me is that people keep going on and on about salary caps (maximum/minimum) due to yankee spending
It isn't NYY fault that they accumulate money like rain water in a reservoir (fills up quickly)
We pay a soft cap, luxury tax, which helps the league thru revenue sharing, but the Yankees have an owner who likes to spend money, other owners become misers and pocket the money (not our fault)
Teams need to build themselves up, thru players but also personnel that cant afford it like the upper tier teams
Most teams dont market themselves, that is revenue where they can make a killing, but try to just leech off their fans + the luxury tax
Steinbrener creadted YES (yankees entertainment sport network), cost him 200mil to start that shit, now its in the 2 billion range (opinionated figures)
