yay, no more bugging everyone in the zone for a raise when one of my party members decides to pull a pug at level 14.

Auto-sort is![]()
The rest is meh.
As a console user I am genuinely excited about auto-sort, it's not like we had another option. In every meripo I'm in I see a massive amount of BS/KS going to the trash, and while it sounds stupid, honestly missing out on all the Wind Crystals and Colibri Feathers kind of sucks, those could easily pay for whatever food/ammo/shihei I used over the course of the party if half of them didn't end up in the abyss b/c I was too busy to sort.
While moogles in Selbina are obviously late, that is something that I had wanted for years, and while I'm about out of jobs to take through the dunes I do have a mule and my g/f is still relatively new to the game, so it'll be nice to have it there should I need it.
I'm on Leviathan and just this past weekend I decided to lvl a couple of my mules to 18 to do scroll quests and unlock sub-jobs seeing I'd sold all the scrolls on my Main. In the dunes I saw at least 6 players leveling/seeking that were subless. SO they were either people like me, people leveling mules or new players. What new players? The last time I saw someone completely fresh start an account was about 4 months ago
lol. I like your analogy.Originally Posted by Lordwafik
I suppose this overdue update will have its uses sometime... but with all these little "nifty" features that should have been a given back then that are coming out of the bag now, it seems like SE is desperate to appeal and retrieve their player base since their craptastical upkeep with WotG. To echo the crowd, a bit too late there SE.
There are still relatively new players, I guarantee you. I PT with theme very time I flag up a low level jobOriginally Posted by Lordwafik
This update notice was the epitome of TOO LITTLE TOO LATE.
Too bad it comes out so late in the game.
I'm also disappointed with the way SE handled it's own window mode after all. They honestly had a good opportunity to implement something very useful for players. I pictured something like this (at work atm, so ya'll have to cope with MSpaint and shitty upload quality, sorry):

(image shamefully stolen from frontpage news. Credits to whomever it may be due to, Alleya or Rocl)
SE could give us a lot to chew on, like hidden stats and visible buffs. They could also implement in game linkshell, to enable to call your favorite crafting NPC to know what item is supposed to be turned in, or which supplies are sold at the guild atm etc...
Meh ... One can dream I suppose![]()
what is that, the cloverfield monster?
It's pretty clear that they're maintaining a separate list of outposts for each of your nation allegiances. Read over the line you quoted again. They're likening it to saving conquest points and rank. If you're Rank 8 Windurst with 60k Conquest Points and switch to San d'Oria you will not start as Rank 8 San d'Oria with 60k Conquest Points, you have to start from Rank 1 and 0 Conquest Points. If you ever switch back to Windurst you'll have the same rank and points as where you left off. The same concept will apply to outposts.Originally Posted by spooky
Case in point: You're waiting at the Trail Markings for Dynamis - Buburimu on XXX job. Five minutes before enter time: "Hey, we need you to come YYY. Can you change?" Much easier (and cheaper fwiw) to zone into Mhaura and change jobs than to warp, change jobs, find a tele/outpost, choco/run back to the Trail Markings.Originally Posted by LD

Agreed. There's plenty of players that don't or won't use Windower (console, folks jumpy about 3PP). What this whole series of update notes points at is S-E finally realizes implementing all these quality of life updates (they're not game-warping, just stuff that feels right and makes actual gameplay more comfortable) is a Good Idea. That they're using popular 3PP plugins means they're looking at them and finding ways to put stuff into the system to match it...which means people will come up with more new good ideas, 3PP them, and S-E will again see them, implement into the main program, cycle of improvement can continue (especially for non-PC players).Originally Posted by EssEnnKay

Well, I actually really am happy for the console users that get to have their stuff auto-sorted I guess Q_Q.
Meh, nothing to see here, move along
This is something that has an extremely positive effect on well over half of the FFXI community, and yet Windower users are complaining because they've had it for a while. This makes me sick. I use Windower too, when I play on PC, but to assume that everyone does, or even should, is bullshit.
I use Xbox 360 probably 80% of the time, but even when I play on my PC I don't use add-ons like Light Luggage. The ONLY add-on I use is TParty, because it's the only one that I feel is even remotely necessary.
This will be an extremely welcome addition for me.
Are moogles in Selbina really that big of a deal now that you can Outpost Warp to the dunes at level 10?
Like most people, I agree that Nomad Moogles should have been there to begin with, but it really seems to me like that problem got solved when they adjusted the level restrictions on regional teleports.
So, is autosort more necessary now that it's branded with the SE stamp of approval? What? lolOriginally Posted by Therin

To me, no, but there are a lot of viewpoints out there.

The less plug-ins I have to use, the better. I've been playing since release and I played on PC for 2 years with no Windower whatsoever. I guess you could say I'm almost a purist.
It was never worth downloading and adding things such as Light Luggage (or the myriad of other add-ons they have), but now that it's implemented into the game itself, I will definitely use it.
Also, I still run a very old version of Windower from about a year and a half ago. Haven't been bothered to take the risk to update.
I can see it helping with a lot of inventory issues. People tend to go to the Dunes as early as level 8-10, and stay there until level 18. If you're quick enough, you can do this entire stretch in one day, and having a Nomad Moogle in Selbina means that you don't need to go back to town to get gear that you wouldn't have had space to lug on you the entire time.Originally Posted by Ehran
Too late for what? Making the game better? I don't think you can be too late for that unless we all plan on quitting tomorrow (though I'm sure there are a few who will).Originally Posted by shukuffxi
Seems more like 'Too late to impress me', which, frankly, isn't the point of every tweak we get and is a little self-absorbed. Part of the point of an update is to make the game more accessible and less, well, frustrating & tedious. Considering they've announced fixing 3 things we've bitched about audibly, you can't really call this futile, since it's fixing something that was (for the most part) needlessly restrictive. Whether you, personally use these is irrelevant, cuz it's pretty obvious most people will, even if you don't think they 'count.' Not everything's going to be a cum-blasting thrill ride of non-stop fun, and while there's nothing wrong with saying this should have been done earlier, there's a limit to how much you can reasonably shit on a win, because that's what any positive change is.
Before anyone gets their panties in a bunch, this is less in defense of the update and more an attack on the people who I feel are currently trapped in and are slowly being crushed to death by a cave-in 5ft up their own asses (most likely caused by taking the trip up there in the first place).
Though I also liked Wafik and Kuno posts way back from first page ;pOriginally Posted by Charismatic
