Monitor color help

Well recently my monitor's display has been kind of funky.
Its hard to explain but all the colors seem a bit... off... everything seems more orange and washed out looking.

The only thing I can think of that I did weird was try to play Riven a while ago and thats when I first noticed the change in display.

Is there any way that I can reset everything or test to see whats wrong??

It sounds like you have the color temperature set to a warmer setting than you're used to.

First check your monitor's settings. Usually, you'll have three presets, like 5000, 6500k, 9300k or something along those lines. What's "normal" to most people is the 9300k setting, which is actually slightly bluish. If it's not set to that, set it to that, and see if things look like you remember.

If that's set, or you don't have those kinds of controls, check your video card's control panel, as most have color calibration of some kind. This will vary depending on OS and video card.

I do have it set to the 9300K

Im looking for my video card control pane but I cant find it
Would you happen to know where to locate it?

I assume you have a PC...

Right click on the desktop, go to Properties, go to Settings, click on Advanced. There should be a tab related to whatever brand of video card you have. Click on that tab and go from there. Some will have the control panel right there, others will have a button to open the control panel.

You may also be able to access the control panel from the Control Panels window, off of the menu when you right click the desktop, or from the system tray. It just varies.

hmm i found the panel and set everything to default and it didnt seem to do anything..

maybe time for a new monitor?

If you have a CRT, then it could well be time for it.

If you have an LCD, it -might- be that one of your backlight bulbs has burnt out, but in that case you'd probably have on part of the screen that's a lot darker too.
