building a website

I am starting my own salvage ls and i would like to have a nice web site for it, the problem is that i have almost no computer experience outside of typing a word document and surfing the net....

Where is a good place to learn how to build your own site? I dont need anything super fancy just some forums for talking and planning events.

also i know you need space tp have your site, do you rent this from people or what?

any help would be nice. also i heard that i can buy my own site for like $10 would this be smart or is there free ones out there?

Since it is a Salvage group I think having a dedicated website/forum for it is way overboard, you'll typically not exceed 10 members. Why not give the online community thing from the Playonline website a go? You can set up a forum/discussion board there.
