FFXIAH and Alla blocking Asian IPs?

This last week I have been unable to access FFXIAH, and several months ago I was suddenly unable to access Allakhazam. Not a terribly big deal, but I thought I'd see if someone knew anything about it. I am currently living in Korea, and I figured maybe they began blocking IPs from this country or this region because of the hacking attacks a while back. If anyone knows the admins of those sites and can give me any info, it'd be appretiated. I don't really miss Alla, but not having FFXIAH is a pain...

Use an anonymous proxy site to access ffxiah if they have blocked Korean IPs.

I actually was an admin on Allakhazam a few months ago when you were unable to access Allakhazam. We were having a lot of DDOS attacks, and the site was down randomly for weeks. It was frustrating. There were no IP's being blocked as of that time. As I'm no longer an admin, I wouldn't know for sure if they are blocking anything now, but I doubt it. Are you still unable to access the site? I'm still friends with a few people and can find out if something is going on.

Edit: I pm'd one of the FFXI admins. Hopefully she'll look into it and post here.

I asked our devs, they said we don't block entire countries.

I just tried both sites again, was able to load Allakhazam, but still not FFXIAH. I'll try from another computer later, perhaps it is a problem with Vista, since I had to switch from my XP laptop to a Vista desktop recently...

edit: Yes, I tried both IE and Firefox

User error. Seriously. I know people love to parade around like Vista is the goddamn apocalypse, but it doesn't randomly block sites. (IE7 will though, and that's not Vista-onry.)

Its probably cause FFAH.com certifcate doesnt match anymore so maybe IE7 is blocking the site now, i know mine IE will do it.

I can't access a lot of FFXI sites (including MysteryTour) when I'm in China.

The sites don't block China, China blocks the sites.

I was able to finally bring up my laptop again and connect to internet, still no FFXIAH. My laptop runs XP and Firefox.

I was unable to connect to FFXIAH since about a week ago, about the same time I changed to a Vista desktop computer, but I still use firefox on the desktop. I am not in China, I am in Korea, but I thought perhaps somehow Korea was blocked from those sites (as we are from MSN Video feeds, CNN, etc).

I'll ask my husband to try to check FFXIAH from his work computer, but he was unable to connect several days ago when this issue first started.

edit: nope, husband at work now, still can't access from his work computer.

www.the-cloak.com is an anon proxy site, try that out its pretty straight forward. It doesnt allow you to log in to forums and such without paying but general browsing to bypass security / Anon browsing is free.

I remember awhile back I had a bugged router ROM, it would not connect to a large number of IPs; Fiddled with the various versions till I found one that was stable.

Thank you! I was looking for a site like this, but could not find anything free. FFXIAH does in fact load using this site. Problem is, I can't change the default server on the list from Bahamut because it requires their paid pin number >.>

The only thing I can think of is somehow Seoul IPs are being blocked from FFXIAH, since no computer in our apartment can connect to it, nor the computers at my husband's workplace. I did remote access to our server at my parents house in the US, and was able to connect to FFXIAH from there, so I knew it was not the site itself that was down.

Sorry to bump this back to the front page, but I thought i'd update ppl about this. From time to time I've been checking FFXIAH again to see if I can access it, and suddenly today I was able to connect again. No changes in router settings, computer cofig, nothing. My vista machine is down at the moment (no idea why... damn Vista), but my XP Laptop was able to connect with no problems. I was even able to log in and edit my player details again. Yay for random access blocks >.> at least it's over.

Your ISP probably just has a really slow dns server, as ffxiah changed hosts or something along those lines a month or so ago.
