Meleeing as a healer will get you much more points than just sitting back healing... which sucks for all.

Seriously, the entire point of being a mage is not getting close to the Danger Zone.
*points at sig* Yay for having stuff to spend it on! I've already bought my LS people all the weapons they could want.Originally Posted by LD
Yea, I've been eyeing some of the windurst and sandy stuff, but they aren't really worth another 3 months of ranking up.
Actually it is, because I have been doing Campaing Ops instead, but somehow those dont count the same, even though I'm doing "advanced" (the tier III) ones.Originally Posted by Sixtail
Win in my books... looking forward to the changes.
It seems like the ops don't really do squat for rank. Battles seem to be the only thing that really matter.Originally Posted by Tajin

Thats a lie and we all know it
My problem with healing in campaign is usually I'm soloing. And what do WHMs(like EVERY other job, except maybe BLM) do when they solo? We beat the hell out of stuff. We don't go around randomly curing people. I do try to enfeeble the mobs I'm whacking on and if I see someone die and can get to them w/out dying myself, I'll go raise them.Originally Posted by Izzy
Then there is the whole problem of curing = sucky campaign XP.
Hopefully they sneak in better points for curing >.>
When I go RDM, I pull out a couple swords, smack a mob around, and try to cure whoever I can while meleeing.
You can have your melee and cure it too.
I cure but mostly I take SMN and just buff the entire zone :D
I want to say it does cap, it's just difficult to notice because it's almost too rare for a battle to go long enough to account other things capping over, too. Outside from some AoEs from bosses, spells, and select TP moves, odds are if you're taking excessive damage then you're also dealing it in kind. Or you're one of those stupid people that thinks pulling 6 mobs at once is smart.Originally Posted by LD
It was a few months back, but I was in a Rolanberry fight on my THF/NIN that lasted nearly an hour and a half. I'd only died like twice, did a good bit of tanking, and certainly put up enough numbers to keep mobs looking at me with a pack of others whacking them, too. I was expecting at least 3000 when the battle ended, but instead was just shy of 1900. Meanwhile, I can crank out 2400 in 30 minutes on SAM/DNC BECAUSE I can heal myself. Then again, I'd never rule out the possibility of the calculator glitching if a zone gets too crowded.
Anyway, hoping they do some additional tweaks beyond the medics. I usually go to be self-sustaining or at least having an escape plan (Flee and Hide on THF will shed mobs off you, as an example), but I still find a drought of lengthy battles to be counterproductive to the spirit of the event. Getting the cmap back up to speed would be a godsend, too.
Where's that Meh cat. I mean sure, these are decent, but it's not enough to salvage WotG. Not even close. Overall the expansion is still made of fail. Lack of merit areas, lack of missions, lack of decent HNM w/drops, lack of a whole slew of everything else. I'm still having 100x more fun in ToAH content and besides leveling DNC for a sub, have not touched WoTG content for going on 4 months now. So in my opinion, bleh. SE needs to seriously re-evaluate what an expansion should consist of when they have their meetings to go over the planning for them.
Alright, so only way for you to enjoy these update notes is when SE releases all the good stuff on the first notes, and these kind of things 2 days before maintenance?Originally Posted by Fhqwghads
Well, the point calculation article might not be perfect, but as a SCH who heals as often as he can and in MUCH larger amounts than my MNK/DNC or BLU/WHM, the exp total is consistantly and significantly lower than either job given an equal amount of time. If one assumes that the greater focus on healing matches or at least gets close to whatever my damage output might be, it suggests there are greater restrictions.
Well, if this is the campaign adjustment they mentioned, there are only two more things left for SE to mention before the update: Job/merit and chocobo adjustments. What they ACTUALLY said was they'd be adding 'a new ranking system for Campaign.' While that may have been a mistranslation for 'new campaign ranks' (incidentally, I'm kinda pissed we're only getting 'Wings' and no 'Medal' rank), I can't help but think they might surprise us. I suspect that it has something to do with any potential chocobo adjustments; it shouldn't take this long to implement them, especially since all the NPCs have been in place since launch, so it's more likely they're expanding the concept. Anyway, if they stick to the two updates a week formula and if they're not dicks and release the update June 2nd, those two points should be all they have time for. Could be wrong though....just hope I'm not wrong about it being June 2nd. -_-
