I've heard a few of the leaked tracks and tbh this album is looking promising. The last 3 have been pretty disappointing but musically this sounds like a return to form. Lyrically it's a bit hard to stomach in some ways, but there's a deliberate self-mockery going on that's appreciable. Rivers to too old, wealthy, and famous to really be writing the kind of genuinely distressed lyrics of blue/pinkerton, so it's time to write about being jaded with being older, wealthy, and famous. If it's done well and wrapped up in good music, then fuck yeah weezer's back.

I agree, I've always loved Weezer because they can laugh at themselves. There are at least three that I've decided are as good as their old stuff. But then there's some songs that either I just dislike or may take some getting used to (Everybody Get Dangerous doesn't really sound like Weezer to me, but I refuse to be too much of a nostalgic bastard so I'm going to try listening to it a bit more). No doubt I'm getting the album though.

The song is good no doubt, but it's not their best. However, the video... might be their best to date, but even that's a stretch when comparing to Buddy Holly.

This saddens me. I don't know why I expect Weezer to stop desperately flailing about, trying to recapture lightning in a bottle as a band capable of genuinely interesting, competent pop-rock, but I still want them to be able to do that.

This is what I'm saying. The song is good, but I'm not into that music genre. The video is a decently well done compilations of youtube memes, but Weezer was just another random pop/rock band in my eyes even when I was listening to their (slightly overplayed) singles on the radio in the mid-late '90s. I don't appreciate being expected to worship a 16-year-old band because of something they did 12 years ago.

I third the Listening To Music For Enjoyment movement, something that I've been trying to preach for years. Expectations of a band to always be the same and have the same music that you liked 4 or 5 years ago (or whatthefuckever) is not healthy.

I haven't found any of their stuff worth listening to since pinkerton unless it's like the best thing on the radio in the car or whatever.
