To the best of my recollection, no AV attempt has ever gotten AV below 79% (and lasted) without locking it or using the wall. It's not fair to say Benediction isn't a problem just because it hasn't wiped anyone yet - if everyone thought that way, we'd never use any preventative safety measures for anything in real life until someone has already gotten hurt and/or died.
I think what you said reinforces my point, even if you intended to refute it lol. Benediction is not what is preventing people from killing AV. It's what people think would prevent them from killing it were they able to overcome the stuff that actually does. But who is to say that whatever solution that exists to these other questions doesn't also cover benediction, or indicate a related solution for it, or at the very least allow for people to analyze what could be done to overcome it? That's not the situation we're in now (or have ever been).

That's wrong. Benediction is a huge problem with coupled with the problem of instacast Meteor when it manafonts. Even if you could completely avoid meteor and just get Benediction spam it would be unbeatable because theres no cap on how much it can cure. Unfortunately in all our attempts we've never been that lucky to even see a Benediction that wasn't used after we're wiped from meteor.

Lol. Maybe next year you guys will get uncut video footage of AV! Seriously though, shouldn't there be new content that makes AV semi-irrelevant anyway, or is it 'too early' still?

Has anyone attempted to intentionally force AV to run out of MP. I have a feeling when people randomly "locked" him after hours, they had actually just made him run out of MP and then the AI bugged out and he just kept meleeing since he was spamming his next spell but had no MP to cast it. I know other mobs can be made to run out of MP. Thoughts?

Pretty sure the cast MP on Meteor was 1, so when he was run almost out of MP he just continually cast Meteor. That's what I heard, but it was a long time ago, so it could have been only a rumor.

This is the explanation someone proposed that I too preferred for the 79% Meteor/Comet spam phase, until it became clear that it was happening to various LSs at 79% regardless of how much MP AV could be supposed to have at that point, and was either a glitch or (god forbid) an intentional "phase".

Someone actually did this. He ran out of MP for a few seconds and resumed rape very quickly, implying he has insane MP regen. There's an old thread somewhere where the results of this were shown.

pff... you've all got it completely wrong.

We all know the secret to beating AV is that you need to be on Sundi's DRK81/NIN40 touching an ebon panel while wearing a staff weak to the weather on darksday whilst eating a cheese sandwich and hovering in the air right above the 2 Ix'Aerns you're stalling on your golden chocobo.

    Try it, rly it works.

amazing how many people post without having read the original thread, where multiple attempts failed due to a freaking ton of benedictions

there was even quite a bit of discussion about the possibility that his hp may get lower with time because later benedictions didn't seem to do as much from similar percentages... unfortunately most of the benediction issues were hours and hours into the fights

anyway, my point was simply that there's a difference between "here's a hardass mob" and "here's an unstoppable killing machine that also happens to be capable of instantly healing itself for any amount of hp, repeatedly"

I've not only read those threads, not only posted in them frequently at the time, but participated in one of the fights whose Benediction values indicated his HP values changed that you referred to, so don't give me this "read the original threads" bullshit. None of those AV attempts--nor any other--has ever failed because of benediction. Sure it may have benedictioned after the fact, but that's never been the reason people lost. It's always been a massive slaughter followed by a Benediction that rubs salt on the wounds.

Anyway, my point was simply, don't dwell on benediction, because once people have worked out the real obstacles to AV, benediction will probably work itself out, too.
